Some Updated Chip Counts at the Break

Niveau 8 : 800/1,600, 0 ante

Players are now on their final 15-minute break of the day.

Zinno Takes From Negreanu

Niveau 8 : 800/1,600, 0 ante

Daniel Negreanu had been eliminated on the first bullet and re-entered to take a seat on the same table as 2016 champion Anthony Zinno. Both were involved in a hand towards the end of the level and the heads-up turn showed {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}. Negreanu had checked and Zinno made it 20,000 to go.

Negreanu came along to see the {2-Clubs} on the river and checked, Zinno checked back.

"He checked?" Negreanu asked the dealer and then announced: "I have an ace." Zinno turned over his {A-Hearts}{J-Spades}{10-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for two pair, Negreanu mucked.

Lyubovetskiy Busts Foxen

Niveau 8 : 800/1,600, 0 ante

After the turn of a board {8-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{2-Spades}{J-Clubs}, Alex Foxen was all in and at risk with the {J-Spades}{9-Clubs}{8-Spades}{7-Clubs} and in need of help, as Andriy Lyubovetskiy had him dominated with the {Q-}{J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{9-Hearts}. Foxen needed a ten to avoid elimination on the first bullet, but instead Lyubovetskiy improved further to a flush with the {4-Hearts} on the river.

The {8-Hearts} fell on the river and Arieh shoved for 44,400. After asking the dealer to verify the bet, Sekularac folded and Arieh took the substantial pot.

Big Double for Ashby

Niveau 8 : 800/1,600, 0 ante

The cards of Jussi Nevanlinna were already in the muck while a big double for David Len Ashby for 185,700 was counted out. Ashby's cards were still tabled and he had flopped bottom set with {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{7-Spades} on a board of {K-Clubs}{9-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}.

According to Ashby, Nevanlinna had raised from under the gun and was called by Ashby in the cutoff and Sam Soverel in the big blind. The flop was checked to Ashby, and his bet of 11,000 was called by Nevanlinna only. The Finn then check-raised the pot on the turn when facing a bet of 27,000 by Ashby and called the shove of Ashby with {A-Diamonds}{K-}{6-Diamonds}{5-} for top pair, the nut flush draw and an open-ended straight draw.

The river was a blank and Ashby soared into a big stack.

There were 16,000 chips in the middle and the board read {9-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{4-Clubs} when we got to the table. Action checked to Robert Mizrachi in the hijack and he bet 7,500. Chance Kornuth, who was on the button, was the only caller.

The {K-Clubs} fell on the turn and both players checked.

The river brought the {8-Hearts} and Mizrachi checked. Kornuth bet 22,500 and Mizrachi called. Kornuth tabled {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{6-Clubs}, Mizrachi mucked, and Kornuth took the pot with kings full.

Abdellatif Left With Crumbs

Niveau 8 : 800/1,600, 0 ante

The cards of Jonathan Abdellatif were all but rushed away after he had paid off the all-in of Christopher Frank from one seat over in a button versus small blind battle. Frank had turned quads on a board of {9-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{5-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} with his {K-Spades}{J-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} and, according to Frank, Abdellatif had a full house with {K-}{9-}{9-}{X-}.

One hand later, Chance Kornuth raised and picked up two callers in Mike Leah and Abdellatif in the cutoff. On the {A-Spades}{10-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop, Kornuth bet 4,500 and Leah called, Abdellatif opted to fold with very few chips behind. The {7-Hearts} turn was checked and a bet of 26,500 on the {Q-Spades} river was all it took for Kornuth to force a fold from Leah

Nyffeler Doubles Through JC Tran

Niveau 8 : 800/1,600, 0 ante

Three players each put 22,000 chips in before the flop: Andre Nyffeler in the small blind, JC Tran from under the gun, and Cary Katz in the hijack.

The flop came {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and Nyffeler shoved for 40,700. Tran shoved over the top, Katz folded, and the two players tabled their hands.

Andre Nyffeler: {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}{K-Spades}{2-Hearts}
JC Tran: {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{6-Clubs}

Nyffeler was ahead with top set and Tran needed to improve in order to stack him. The {K-Hearts} turn and {J-Clubs} river were no help to Tran and Nyffeler took the pot to double up.

Karmazinas Busts Michael Mizrachi's First Bullet

Niveau 8 : 800/1,600, 0 ante
Michael Mizrachi

A three-bet to 12,000 was in front of Dominykas Karmazinas and Michael Mizrachi then four-bet for the size of the pot, making it 42,500 to go in the small blind.

"How much do you have behind, 90k?" Karmazinas asked once the initial raiser had folded, and Mizrachi nodded, the Lithuanian called.

On the flop of {10-Spades}{9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}, Mizrachi instantly moved all in and Karmazinas called in a heartbeat.

Michael Mizrachi: {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{J-Spades}{9-Hearts}
Dominykas Karmazinas: {Q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}

Mizrachi was slightly behind with his aces and open-ended straight draw, while Karmazinas had flopped top and bottom pair. On the {7-Clubs} turn, Mizrachi improved to a straight, yet the {7-Spades} on the river gave Karmazinas a full house. Mizrachi was eliminated on his first bullet and will surely be back in action soon again, as the tournament features a single re-entry option.
