Lopez Wins a Blind-versus-Blind Clash

Emmanuel Lopez was in the small blind, pushing all in when we arrived at the table. He had 1,115,000 total and Nipun Java had a few big blinds more. Java tanked for a bit and eventually made the call.

Lopez: {A-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}
Java: {K-Clubs}{J-Clubs}

Lopez was slightly ahead but Java's outs were live. The {Q-Hearts}{A-Spades}{3-Spades} flop, however, slimmed his chances to a gutter or running trips. He would be drawing dead on the turn, instead, as the {A-Clubs} gave Lopez a boat and the {Q-Diamonds} river made things official.

Java continued with fewer than five bigs and busted shortly afterwards.
