Bohmerwald Flipped Out in 20th Place

Niveau 37 : 50,000/100,000, 12,500 ante

Michael "BobMerwald" Bohmerwald moved all in for 974,322 from the hijack and Guo Liang "Ct188" Chen called from the big blind.

Michael "BobMerwald" Bohmerwald: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Guo Liang "Ct188" Chen: {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}

It was a flip but Bohmerwald needed to improve to stay alive. The {j-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{3-Clubs} flop did the opposite as Chen made a set, and the {8-Hearts} turn officially left Bohmerwald drawing dead. The meaningless {3-Hearts} was run out on the river and and Bohmerwald bowed out in 20th place.

"Ipequijano" Falls in 21st Place

Niveau 37 : 50,000/100,000, 12,500 ante

"Ipequijano" raised all in for 359,420 from the button and Michael "BobMerwald" Bohmerwald gave them isolation after he came over the top for 689,902 from the small blind.

"Ipequijano": {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Michael "BobMerwald" Bohmerwald: {a-Spades}{3-Spades}

The {k-Spades}{10-Clubs}{a-Clubs} flop paired both players but "Ipequijano" was still behind and neither the {6-Clubs} turn nor the {3-Diamonds} river were any help ending their tournament in 21st place.

WSOP Legend: 3-Time Poker Players Championship Winner Michael Mizrachi

Niveau 36 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
Michael Mizrachi
Michael Mizrachi

The World Series of Poker $50,000 Poker Players Championship (PPC), which was created in 2006, is considered the tournament where the best of the best take on one another and duke it out in a variety of poker games, a reflection of all-around poker skill. Imagine playing the likes of Phil Ivey, Phil Hellmuth, and Daniel Negreanu five days in a row in a short-handed mixed format.

Needless to say, the hefty price tag coupled with a small, elite field created a legacy for the PPC where champions are considered among the greatest overall poker players. A quick glance at its 14-year history shows nothing but greatness among champions, from John Hennigan to Mike Gorodinsky, and with the late David "Chip" Reese as perhaps the event's most fitting inaugural winner back in 2006.

Winning once is the poker professional's dream. Winning two? You're in a league of your own. But winning the toughest event with poker's best three times? Only one man achieved that improbable feat on this day back in 2018, after winning his first two titles in 2010 and 2012: Michael Mizrachi.

"JCBCN" Eliminates Stevens

Niveau 35 : 30,000/60,000, 7,500 ante

David "premium" Stevens raised to 144,444 from the hijack and Matt "Berkey11_S4Y" Berkey called from the small blind. "JCBCN" came along from the big blind and the flop came down {7-Hearts}{a-Spades}{j-Hearts}.

Berkey checked, "JCBCN" bet 250,416, and Stevens jammed for 1,141,118. Berkey got out of the way and "JCBCN" called.

"JCBCN": {j-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}
David "premium" Stevens: {4-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}

Stevens had flopped top pair but was crushed by the two pair of "JCBCN." The {9-Diamonds} turn left Stevens drawing dead, and after the meaningless {k-Hearts} was run out on the river he exited in 25th place for $4,751.77.

Link Eliminated by Berkey

Niveau 35 : 30,000/60,000, 7,500 ante

Action on the table folded around to Robert "BobbyLin53" Link who raised all in for 68,820 from the cutoff and Matt "berkey11_s4y" Berkey gave him isolation after he three-bet to 199,999 from the small blind.

Robert "BobbyLin53" Link: {j-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Matt "berkey11_s4y" Berkey: {a-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}

Link was behind holding live cards but didn't get any help from the {8-Clubs}{6-Spades}{q-Clubs} flop.

The {k-Hearts} turn gave Link some life with an open-ender but the {8-Hearts} river ended his tournament in 28th place for $3,782.02.

New Jersey's Ryan Torgersen Discusses Incredible Bracelet Redemption

Niveau 34 : 25,000/50,000, 6,250 ante
Ryan Torgersen
Ryan Torgersen

Over the course of two days on July 9th and 10th, the poker world witnessed New Jersey’s Ryan “im.sorry” Torgersen accomplish a truly incredible feat. First, he navigated his way through a 1,026-entry field in Event #9: $1,000 NLH 6-Max only to finish runner-up to Ron “MacDaddy15” McMillen, good for $116,379 prize money.

A day later in Event #10: $600 Monster Stack, Torgersen was back at it and topped a 2,074-entry field to win that tournament for $172,362 and a gold bracelet. In a 24-hour period, he won a $288,741 in prize money. He didn't stop there as last night he finished in third place in Event #23: $500 NLH Knockout for $41,243.

Little was known about poker’s latest breakout star, who was awarded Performance of the Week right here on PokerNews. Fortunately, he found time in between his online grind to chat with PokerNews.
