Pescatori Turns the Boat and Gets Paid

There were five players that saw a flop after an initial 400 preflop raise and action was checked to Max "MaxSparrow" Pescatori who fired out 962, only "Twinning0716" called from the button.

Once the appeared on the turn, Pescatori led out for 1,924 and "Twinning0716" called to see the complete the board on the river.

Pescatori fired out 8,400 and then called "Twinning0716's" 9,509 all in raise.

"Twinning0716" rolsed over for trip eights but it was no good as Pescatori turned the full house with to win the pot and "Twinning0716" re-entered the tournament.

Matthew “Michmeister” Mich Looking to Close Series as Strong as He Started

At the beginning of the month, Iowa’s Matthew “Michmeister” Mich had just $3,344 in live tournament earnings, nearly half of which came from two small WSOP cashes, one in 2018 and the other in 2019.

What those paltry numbers don’t reveal is his experience and success online, which was on display in the 2020 WSOP online bracelet events early on as he cashed in all three of the first events right off the bat. It started when he took 19th in Event #1: $500 NLH Kickoff, and on Thursday he final tabled Event #2: $1,000 NLH 8-Handed Deepstack for $15,628. In Event #3: $400 NLH, he placed 298th for a $602.20 min-cash.

Since then, he's added three other cashes and is hoping for a seventh, and his first bracelet, in this event.

Mich, a former poker dealer, traveled to Las Vegas with Taylor Howard, a Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) champ who finished in 26th place in the aforementioned kickoff event.

“He was only planning on being out here a couple weeks, but now I think he might stay with me and chase the leaderboard,” Howard said of his friend.

WSOP Legend: 10-Time Bracelet Winner Phil Ivey

Few poker players have captured the attention of the poker universe quite like Phil Ivey. There have been plenty of champions of the game who crushed it at the felt, but none who built up the mystique of Ivey, who remains to this day arguably the most magnetic player in poker despite results that no longer match his days of utmost dominance.

A day after the anniversary of Ivey's induction into the Poker Hall of Fame, PokerNews examines the legacy of his WSOP success. Prior to 2000, Ivey didn't have any recorded WSOP cashes.

The 23-year-old didn't waste any time establishing himself as one of the top up-and-coming players. That year, after already making one final table and finishing fifth, Ivey secured his first bracelet. He beat none other than fellow Hall of Famer Amarillo Slim Preston heads up to win Event #14: $2,500 Pot-Limit Omaha, a rebuy event, for his first bracelet and $195,000. Three other Hall of Famers — Chris Bjorin, Phil Hellmuth and David "Devilfish" Ulliott — also competed at that final table, so shipping it was about more than just getting his first taste of gold. Ivey showed he could beat the best in the business.

Two years after that, though, would be when Ivey really showed he was the present and future of the game. In 2002, Ivey showcased his skills at limit poker in a big way.

The flop came , Lee check-raised Nguyen's 399 continuation bet to 1,000 and Nguyen called to see the appear on the turn.

Lee check-jammed for 17,447 after Nguyen fired out 2,530 and Nguyen called off his 8,010.
