"NuthinButNet" Bites the Dust

Niveau 9 : 140/280, 35 ante

"NuthinButNet" raised all in for 3,197 from middle position and was called by "Ulqqkingatme" from the button.

"Ulqqkingatme": {a-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}
"NuthinButNet": {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

"NuthinButNet" had "Ulqqkingatme" dominated until the {5-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop appeared pairing their three.

The {6-Hearts} turn was no help to "NuthinButNet" as they needed a ten to fall on the river to win the hand or a four to chop, but it came the {5-Diamonds} ending their tournament.

Action on the table folded around to Sigfredo "Friendly420" Gonzalez who raised to 1,200 from the small blind and Alan "GladiusIII" Goehring defended his big to see a {6-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} flop appear.

Gonzalez continued for 240 and then called Goehring's 1,815 raise bringing the {3-Clubs} turn.

Gonzalez jammed for 25,946 and Goehring called off his 2,710 stack.

Alan "GladiusIII" Goehring: {k-Diamonds}{9-Spades}

Both players flopped top pair but Goehring had kicker issues and the {6-Clubs} river was no help ending his tournament.

WSOP History: Looking Back at the November (and October) Nines

Niveau 8 : 120/240, 30 ante
2013 WSOP November Nine
2013 WSOP November Nine

No stage in poker stood as a bigger goal for a tournament player than the final table of the WSOP Main Event. For years, that meant going to sleep knowing you had the chance of a lifetime, to go down in poker history in the next few days as the cameras captured your every bet, raise and fold.

All of that changed in 2008.

The year after Jerry Yang's Main Event victory was broadcast to all on ESPN's standard tape delay, organizers made a decision to try to increase the excitement and anticipation around the final table: after the final nine was reached, play would be paused. At that point, everyone left would go home with 9th-place money and the players would reconvene a few months later to play out the final table on a short tape delay.

That lasted until 2016, and this is the history of the November (and October) Nines.
