Day 1 of Event #14: $1,500 Seven Card Stud is in the books and after 15 levels of play, an original starting field of 260 was trimmed down to 76.

Emerging as the chip leader at the end of the day’s action was Elias Hourani who ended with 240,000. He revealed himself as one of the big stacks about midway through the day and continued climbing until he was one of the biggest stacks in the room.

Some of the other big stacks at the end of play included, Brendan Taylor who finished with 236,500, Jeffrey Mitseff with 228,000, and Kevin Gerhart 220,500. All three were not significant stacks until late in the day and took full advantage of the last few levels to become some of the top forces in the tournament.

Several well known players advanced to Day 2, including David Williams who bagged a nice stack of 172,500, Sean Yu (123,500), Yueqi Zhu (122,000), Brandon Shack-Harris (95,500) and Adam Friedman (78,000). All of which will be looking to make a deep run on Day 2.

Not everyone was so fortunate to advance as many hit the rail on Day 1, such as Daniel Negreanu, Scott Seiver and defending champion Eli Elezra who started the day out well, building his stack early but things went south for him before the end of the day and he was not able to find a bag.

Day 2 resumes at 2 p.m. local time at level 16 with limits at 4,000/8,000. Seat draw and full chip counts will be posted early in the morning.
