Affleck Loses Some

Niveau 8 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Matt Affleck
Matt Affleck

With 10,000 in the middle, action was picked up on the turn of a three-way pot with Matt Affleck under the gun.

The flop came out {4-Spades}{a-Hearts}{9-Clubs} and action was checked around.

The turn came the {9-Diamonds} and the big blind checked once more, as did Affleck and the player from the late position.

The river was a {6-Spades} and the big blind led out for 9,000. Affleck thought about it for a few seconds before flicking in the chips for the call. The late-position player folded and the big blind flipped over {9-Spades}{5-Spades} for trip nines for Affleck to muck.

Robbins Flops Royal Flush in First Hand at Table

Niveau 8 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Casey Robbins
Casey Robbins

As Casey Robbins recounted and his tablemates confirmed, he had just moved to a new table when the blinds were 600/1200, and on his first hand he picked up {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}.

An early position player opened to 3,000 and a middle position player called, as did Robbins in the big blind.

The flop of {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{10-Hearts} was the prettiest flop a poker player could see. All three players checked to the turn.

The {8-Diamonds} turn saw Robbins check, the early position player bet around 3,500, and Robbins called after the other player folded.

On the {2-Spades} river, Robbins put out a bet of 6,000 and his opponent called. His opponent showed {8-}{8-} for a turned set, but there was no hand in poker that would beat Robbin's royal as he chipped up to over double the starting stack.

Spahiu Eliminated

Niveau 8 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Renato Spahiu
Renato Spahiu

After losing most of his stack when he ran {q-}{q-} into {a-}{a-} Renato Spahiu got his last chips in with {5-}{5-} on a {7-}{5-}{3-} flop.

He was called by a flush draw and the flush made it there on the turn and Spahiu was eliminated. He was last seen heading to the cage to rebuy.

Maruya Flops Trips to Double in Blind Battle

Niveau 8 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Grant Maruya was all-in in the big blind for about 35,000 chips against a player in the small blind and they were waiting to see a flop as cards were revealed.

Grant Maruya: {a-Diamonds}{9-Spades}
Small Blind: {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

An ace may have been the easiest way for Maruya to jump ahead, but he had no problem with the {9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} flop. The {3-Clubs} came on the turn and with only a ten to eliminate him, the river was the {2-Diamonds} and Maruya took the pot.

Jason Wheeler
Jason Wheeler

Jason Wheeler raised from the hijack to 2,700 and the big blind defended.

The flop came out {3-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{j-Clubs}. The big blind checked and Wheeler bet 3,000 which the big blind called.

The turn brought an {a-Diamonds}. The big blind checked again and Wheeler bet 5,500. The big blind called.

The river was a {9-Diamonds}, the big blind checked and Wheeler checked back. The big blind showed {6-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for bottom pair and Wheeler turned over {a-Spades}{7-Clubs} for top pair.

Valentzas Shows The Set

Niveau 7 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

A player limped under the gun and Nicholas Valentzas raised to 3,700. The big blind and the under-the-gun player called to see a flop.

The flop came {8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{j-Clubs} and the action checked to Valentzas who bet 3,000. The big blind folded, and the under-the-gun player raised to 6,000 which Valentzas called.

The turn was a {k-Clubs} and his opponent checked. Valentzas bet 25,000 and the under-the-gun player, after some deliberation, let his hand go and tapped the table. Valentzas turned over {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} as he took in the pot.

Karnafel Doubles with Jacks

Niveau 7 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

David Karnafel was under the gun and had all his 45,000 or so chips in the middle against another early position player preflop.

David Karnafel: {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}
Early Position: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

The dealer put out the flop and a jack was in the window on the {j-Clubs}{k-Spades}{3-Diamonds} flop to give Karnafel a set. The early position player was drawing slim but found some hope with a Broadway draw on the {10-Spades} turn.

Another player at the table called out "Four!" for no apparent reason, and sure enough the {4-Diamonds} completed the board to double Karnafel.
