The 52nd annual World Series of Poker (WSOP) at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada continues today with a brand-new tournament in Event #51: $3,000 6-Handed No-Limit Hold'em, which will commence at 3 p.m. local time.

Players will begin with a starting stack of 40,000 and blinds at 100/200/200 and levels will be 30 minutes in duration, with 15-minute breaks every four levels. Late registration will remain open until the end of Level 12, which is expected to end at approximately 9:45 p.m.

The event is scheduled to run for two days and Day 1 will break after 21 levels of play. Day 2 will start up on Wednesday, October 27 at 2 p.m. and will play down to a winner. Day 2 will have a dinner break at a time that has yet to be determined.

This is the first year Event #51: $3,000 6-Handed No-Limit Hold'em will be played, and the winner will earn the lion's share of the prize pool as well as a coveted WSOP bracelet.

The tournament is expected to attract many big poker names and well-known faces, as well as some lesser-known players looking to earn a big score and go all the way.

Stephen Chidwick opened to 400 on the button and Chris Brewer called in the small blind.

Both players checked on the flop of {4-Spades}{5-Spades}{5-Diamonds} and Brewer check-called a bet of 400 from Chidwick on the {2-Clubs} turn.

Chidwick fired a bet of 2,000 when checked to on the {q-Diamonds} river and Brewer folded.

There was heads-up action between Craig Varnell from the cutoff and Chance Kornuth from the button after a {3-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{q-Clubs} flop.

Varnell check-raised to 3,600 after Kornuth fired out 1,2000 and Kornuth called bringing the {q-Spades} turn.

Varnell led out for 6,800 and Kornuth called once again to see the {7-Hearts} complete the board on the river. Varnell continued with his aggression and fired out a healthy 21,000 bet.

Kornuth took some time in the tank and glared at Varnell but ultimately mucked his hand.

Top Pair for Ahmed

Faisal Ahmed raised the button to 600 and the big blind three-bet to 2,600, which he called.

The dealer spread a flop of {a-Clubs}{7-Spades}{6-Hearts} and the big blind continued for 1,200 before Ahmed raised to 3,000. His opponent called and they saw the {8-Clubs} on the turn.

Both players checked and the dealer dropped the {10-Spades} on the river, and they both checked once again. Ahmed tabled {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} for top pair jack-kicker on the flop and his opponent mucked his hand.
