Moreno Doubles Up in a Battle of the Blinds

Niveau 13 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Johnnie Moreno
Johnnie Moreno

Johnnie Moreno was left with about five big blinds when it folded around to him in the small blind and he went all-in. The big blind called the 14,000 to put Moreno at risk for his tournament life.

Johnnie Moreno: {j-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Big Blind: {q-Hearts}{2-Hearts}

Moreno needed to catch one of his live cards because his opponent also had hearts and the board would run out {a-Spades}{8-Clubs}{9-Spades}{k-Clubs}{a-Clubs} giving Moreno a nine on the flop to win the pot.

Moreno then said "My strategy is just to have the worst hand against you all the time" joking to the big blind as he scooped the pot.

Ryan Depaulo said he had just sat down and had gotten his chips in preflop against Aleksandr Merzhvinskiy.

Ryan Depaulo: {a-Spades}{10-Hearts}
Aleksandr Merzhvinskiy: {4-Clubs}{4-Hearts}

The two were flipping and the board ran out {k-Spades}{8-Spades}{7-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{4-Spades} to give Merzhvinskiy an unnecessary set on the river.

"You wasted a set," Depaulo said as he made his abrupt exit from the table.

Chen Hits River to Bust Opponent

Niveau 12 : 1,200/2,400, 2,400 ante
Pete Chen
Pete Chen

Pete Chen was in the small blind and had 15,000 committed to the pot. The hijack jammed for 48,000 and Chen called.

Hijack: {5-Spades}{5-Clubs}
Pete Chen: {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

The players were flipping and the {j-Hearts}{10-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop kept things spicy as Chen picked up an open-ended straight draw. The {4-Spades} turn changed nothing, but the {k-Spades} spiked the river to give Chen the pot and knock out his opponent.

A hand was picked up when a player was all-in for about 35,000 in chips and Joe Serock also had all the chips in the middle to put the player at risk.

Opponent: {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}
Joe Serock: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}

The board would run out {5-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} and with that Serock would eliminate a player. More importantly, for Serock he would add to his stack to put him at around 100,000 in chips.

The hand was picked up preflop when Everett Carlton raised to 2,000 and was re-raised by Niko Koop to 6,000. It folded around to Carlton again and he made the call.

The flop came {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} and both players checked. The turn was {j-Clubs} and Carlton checked. Koop made it 9,000 and Carlton went all-in putting himself at risk which Koop quickly called.

Everett Carlton: {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}
Niko Koop: {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}

The river {6-Hearts} was meaningless as Carlton was drawing dead and he was eliminated.

Pat Lyons
Pat Lyons

Known as "World famous" Pat Lyons was involved in a hand. You may remember him from this year's interview on PokerNews in the Main Event in which he went all-in blind and won the hand live on air.

The hand was picked up on the turn with the board showing {8-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{7-Spades}{8-Clubs} and Lyons checked from the small blind to the only other player big blind.

The big blind bet 3,100 and Lyons who said "I only meant to call I swear to God" raised to 6,200 after he was told he couldn't get change from the 5,000 chip he put in because he also put in 200 in black (100 chips).

The big blind raised all-in for about 10,000 and Lyons made the call to put his opponent at risk.

Big Blind:{k-Hearts}{8-Hearts}
Pat Lyons: {6-Spades}{3-Spades}

The river was {5-Spades} giving Lyons hit a straight flush and eliminating a player from the tournament.
