Shak Back; Soverel Throws Hand; Hellmuth Eats Spaghetti

Niveau 13 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Dan Shak sat down on his second bullet and defended from the big blind when Sam Soverel raised from middle position, as did the small blind.

Soverel bet 25,000 when checked to on the {6-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} flop and only the small blind called. Both players then checked on the {3-Hearts} turn.

The small blind checked on the {7-Spades} river and Soverel bet 55,000. The small blind called and showed {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}{8-Spades}{3-Spades} for two pair and Soverel threw his cards across the table and at his opponent when he saw he was beaten.

At the same table, Phil Hellmuth slurped down a mouthful of spaghetti from a styrofoam container sitting in his lap.

Poker is Fun for Ausmus

Niveau 13 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Jeremy Ausmus, Eddie Ochana, and Ole Schemion went three-ways to the {10-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{j-Clubs} flop. Ochana, from the button, bet 55,000 and only Ausmus called from the small blind.

Both players checked the {a-Spades} turn before the {2-Diamonds} fell on the river. Ausmus announced pot to 193,000 and Ochana called after a brief tank.

Ausmus showed {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{k-Spades} for the turned straight and Ochana mucked, dropping down to 50,000.

"Good hand, Jeremy. Isn't poker fun when you just have it," tablemate John Beauprez said.

Shak Stacked After Aces Cracked

Niveau 12 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Dan Shak
Dan Shak

Jonas Kronwitter opened to 15,000 in late position and Dan Shak flat-called on the button. Adam Hendrix in the big blind then three-bet to 65,000 and only Shak called, with about 65,000 behind.

The flop came {a-Spades}{2-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} and Shak checked out of turn.

"It's on me," Hendrix said before making a decision.

Hendrix bet to put his opponent all-in and Shak folded, leaving himself short.

The very next hand, Shak got his stack in preflop against Kronwitter.

Dan Shak: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{4-Clubs}
Jonas Kronwitter: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}{9-Spades}{6-Spades}

The flop of {k-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{5-Clubs} brought the only king left in the deck to give Kronwitter the lead with a set, and Shak hit the rail when he did not improve on the {5-Spades}{q-Diamonds} runout.

Seiver Doubles Second Bullet With Quads

Niveau 12 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Soon after re-entering the tournament, Scott Seiver got his entire stack in the middle on the turn against Cary Katz. The board read {6-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{q-Hearts}, and Seiver had {q-Spades}{9-Spades}{8-Hearts}{8-Clubs} in front of him.

"That was a good turn for you. I'm drawing dead," Katz said holding {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{x-}{x-}. Seiver was already pulling back his chips when the dealer turned over the {q-Clubs} river, improving Seiver to quads.

Negreanu Flourishing on Second Bullet, Busts Seiver

Niveau 12 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Daniel Negreanu lasted less than one level on his first bullet of the tournament. Now on his second bullet, he's quickly climbing the chip leaderboard after busting Scott Seiver.

In a blind versus blind battle, Seiver bet 55,000 on the turn with the board showing {5-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{2-Spades} and Negreanu called. Seiver shoved for around 200,000 on the {10-Diamonds} river and Negreanu snap-called.

Seiver turned over {5-}{5-} for a full house, but Negreanu had him beat with {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{4-Spades} for queens full.
