The 53rd Annual World Series of Poker Kicks Off Today

Welcome to Day 1 of Event #1: $500 Casino Employees No-Limit Hold'em at the 2022 World Series of Poker from its new home at Bally's and Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino. Cards go in the air at 11:00 a.m. local time for the first of two days in the opening event of the series.

For the inaugural kickoff, casino employees from all around the world will face off for their shot at the first WSOP bracelet of the 2022 series.

The reigning champion from the 2021 WSOP Casino Employee Event is Jimmy Barnett, who at the time of winning was a dealer and floor manager at Caesars Palace. Barnett came first in a field of 419 entries to take home a top prize of $39,013 and his first gold bracelet.

Players start off this morning with 25,000 chips and will play 17 levels today with blinds increasing every 40 minutes. Registration will close at the end of the dinner break following Level 9, with each player being allowed a single reentry. There will be a 20 minute break every three levels and a 90 minute dinner break after Level 9, at approximately 5:40 p.m. Day 2 will pick back up at noon tomorrow.

At the end of the previous level, the flop read {7-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{q-Clubs} with 5,500 in the pot already.

Lisa Vanderpump was sitting in the big blind and was first to act. She opted to check and so did the player in the hijack, The player in the cutoff bet 1,700.

"It was so much easier before you got here". she replied before making the call. The hijack opted to get out of their way.

The turn was the {7-Diamonds} for Vanderpump to bet 200 and got called.

The river came with the {7-Spades}. Vanderpump seemed a bit confused and might not have been aware that it action was on her. The dealer prompted her for her action. Vanderpump then decided to bet 1,000 and got called. She tabled the {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs} for a full house, sevens over sixes but her opponent showed the {j-Spades}{j-Clubs} for the higher full house and the pot.

Let the Games Begin: 2022 WSOP is Officially Underway

Reality TV star Lisa Vanderpump's "Shuffle Up and Deal" announcement at the start of the Casino Employees event Tuesday morning kickstarted the 2022 World Series of Poker, the first ever on the Las Vegas Strip.

Event #1: $500 Casino Employees No-Limit Hold'em began with over 460 players in the spacious convention center space inside Paris Las Vegas, one of two venues used for the 2022 WSOP. Bally's, a connecting hotel, will host Day 2's and final tables during the upcoming series.

Golden Nugget to Host $1,100 Buy-In, $1,000,000 GTD PokerNews Cup June 24-28

This summer, Golden Nugget Las Vegas will play host to the 14th Annual Grand Poker Series, which features 81 events and offers over $3 million in guaranteed prize money from May 31-July 3. One of those events is the $1,100 buy-in, $1,000,000 Guaranteed PokerNews Cup that will run from June 24-28.

The tournament will feature three starting flights beginning with Day 1a at 11 a.m. PT on Friday, June 24. Days 1b and 1c will take place at the same time on Saturday, June 25, and Sunday, June 26 respectively. The surviving players from each flight will return at Noon on Monday, June 27 to play down to the final table, which will play out at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28.
