Seidel's Roller Coaster Ride Ends Before the Money

Niveau 17 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Erik Seidel
Erik Seidel

Krasimir Yankov was all-in for 260,000 on the {8-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{3-Spades}{10-Hearts} turn and looked up by Erik Seidel.

The Bulgarian tabled the {a-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and was ahead versus Seidel's {9-Spades}{8-Spades}{5-Hearts}{3-Hearts}. The river was a blank {2-Diamonds} and Yankov remained in contention.

Seidel then doubled through Yankov for his last few chips only to get it in against Robert Cowen with {k-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{8-Clubs}. The Brit flipped over the {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and despite a gutshot on the {10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} flop, nothing changed when two blanks came on turn and river.

The roller coaster ride of Seidel has ended in 28th place and the action continues towards the three-table redraw.

Mermelstein Increases His Lead

Niveau 17 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

On the tail end of a {10-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{6-Clubs}{q-Spades}{a-Hearts} board, Ben Yu was in the tank after facing a pot-sized bet of Aaron Mermelstein. He ultimately called for half of his stack and Mermelstein tabled {k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs} for a rare nine-card straight to drag in the pot and extend his lead at the top of the leaderboard.

Park Finishes Off Guerra

Niveau 17 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Lautaro Guerra and James Park were back at it again, with the two players getting all of the chips in the middle preflop. It was Guerra at risk for around 300,000 and needed some help to stay alive.

Lautaro Guerra: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{4-Diamonds}
James Park: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades}

The flop fell {k-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{4-Clubs} to give Guerra a set of kings in the window but Park also flopped a flush. The {a-Diamonds} on the turn left Guerra drawing to a single king and the river was not it.

Mermelstein Flops an Ace to Eliminate Medarov

Niveau 17 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Aaron Mermelstein raised it up to 55,000 in early position and Vasil Medarov three-bet the pot to 195,000 on his left. The action folded back to Mermelstein who just called.

The flop fell {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and Mermelstein checked to Medarov who pushed all in for his last 200,000 chips. Mermelstein instantly called and showed {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} for a pair of aces and a flush draw. Medarov held {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{4-Diamonds} and was drawing pretty slim.

The {4-Spades} on the turn and the {2-Spades} on the river changed nothing as Medarov was sent to the rail.

Riordan Chips Up With a Straight

Niveau 17 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Erik Seidel raised for Krasimir Yankov and John Riordan in the big blind to call. On the {j-Spades}{9-Clubs}{8-Hearts} flop, it checked to Yankov and he bet 60,000 in the hijack. Only Riordan called and then checked the {8-Hearts} turn and {10-Hearts} river.

Yankov checked behind both times and tabled the {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} for a straight to win the pot.

In the meanwhile, Roussos Koliakoudakis has been eliminated to bring the field down to the last 30 players.

Jouhkimainen Laments "End of an Era"

Niveau 17 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Vasil Medarov raised to 75,000 on the button and Joni Jouhkimainen then repotted in the big blind, prompting Medarov to call all-in for 185,000.

Vasil Medarov: {a-Spades}{10-Spades}{8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}
Joni Jouhkimainen: {a-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{6-Spades}{5-Spades}

The ten-kicker played on the {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{3-Spades}{q-Hearts}{k-Spades} board as Medarov held on to the narrow lead with his kicker advantage.

"It's over, the end of an era," Jouhkimainen joked after he had just lost an all-in for the first time in an eternity.

Park Shoves on Guerra

Niveau 17 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

James Park opened to 50,000 in early position and was called by Lautaro Guerra in the big blind. The flop came {a-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and Guerra check-called a bet of 40,000 from Park.

The turn was the {3-Diamonds} and Guerra checked again. Park threw in a bet of 125,000 and Guerra still called. The {6-Clubs} completed the board and Guerra checked one more time. Park slid out a stack of 25,000 chips, enough to put Guerra to the test for his remaining 330,000. Guerra thought for nearly a minute before throwing his cards away.

Koliakoudakis Pays Off Mercier

Niveau 17 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Jason Mercier was the initial raiser and he picked up calls from Roussos Koliakoudakis and Brian Rast, the latter of which was in the big blind. The {9-Hearts}{8-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop was checked through and Rast also checked the {6-Spades} turn. Mercier bet 55,000 for Koliakoudakis to call and Mercier bet again on the {4-Spades} river for 190,000.

Koliakoudakis gave it some consideration and paid it off, only to then muck when shown the {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{3-Spades} for eights full of fours.

Another One for Stojanovic

Niveau 16 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

In a four-way limped pot, the dealer fanned the flop of {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}. The action checked to Manuel Stojanovic in middle position who threw in a bet of 50,000. Both of the blinds folded but Scott Seiver called.

The turn was the {3-Hearts} and Seiver checked again. Stojanovic sized up with a bet of 175,000 this time but Seiver stuck around for the {4-Clubs} on the river.

Seiver checked for the third time and Stojanovic went with a block-bet of 100,000. Seiver went into the tank for over a minute before finally making the call. Stojanovic tabled {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for queens and fives which was the best hand.
