Chance Kornuth Eliminated in 14th Place ($83,960)

Niveau 22 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Chance Kornuth
Chance Kornuth

Jason Mercier opened to 180,000 from under the gun and Chance Kornuth stuck in his last 160,000 on his left. Scott Seiver also called from the big blind and the flop came {j-Hearts}{10-Spades}{6-Hearts}.

Seiver checked to Mercier who bet 400,000 and Seiver got out of the way.

Chance Kornuth: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{3-Spades}
Jason Mercier: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}

Kornuth flopped a Broadway wrap but Mercier limited those outs with a flush draw. It was the {3-Clubs} on the turn and the {6-Clubs} on the river that bricked out, sending Kornuth to the payout desk in 14th place.

Cavanaugh Cracks Aces to Leave Kornuth Short

Niveau 22 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
James Cavanaugh
James Cavanaugh

Chance Kornuth raised the pot to 210,000 and James Cavanaugh called all-in for 205,000 while the rest of the table got out of the way.

James Cavanaugh: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}{10-Spades}{6-Diamonds}
Chance Kornuth: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}

The {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{10-} flop gave Cavanaugh broadway and the {10-Hearts} turn also provided trips tens on top of that. Nothing changed with the {5-Hearts} river and Kornuth was left with fewer than three big blinds, as he will have to take his chances very shortly in order to get back into contention.

Cavanaugh on Fumes; Katz Chips Up

Niveau 22 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

On the tail end of a larger pot between Jared Bleznick and Aaron Katz, the board showed {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}. Bleznick bet 200,000 and then faced a pot-sized raise to 1,290,000 by Katz. After mulling it over for a short while, Bleznick sent his cards into the muck.

Shortly after, Joni Jouhkimainen raised from under the gun and James Cavanaugh called in the big blind. With 240,000 behind, Cavanaugh checked and Jouhkimainen bet the {k-Hearts}{10-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop to force a sigh-fold.

Karakitukov Picks Off Heritsch's Bluff

Niveau 22 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Veselin Karakitukov opened to 150,000 in middle position and Michael Heritsch defended from the big blind. The flop came {k-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and Heritsch check-called a bet of 175,000 from Karakitukov.

The turn was the {4-Clubs} and Heritsch checked again. Karakitukov splashed in another bet of 550,000 and Heritsch stuck around to see the {10-Clubs} on the river.

Heritsch put together a bet of 1,000,000 on the river and Karakitukov took a minute before making the call. Heritsch showed {a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} for a missed straight and flush draw while Karakitukov had two pair with {k-Spades}{q-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}.

Dudley Scoops to Take the Lead

Niveau 22 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Four ways to the {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} flop no action took place which led to the {6-Hearts} on the turn. Robert Cowen in the small blind bet 150,000 and Dash Dudley called out of the big blind, as did Aaron Mermelstein from two seats over. Only Veselin Karakitukov folded and Cowen bet again the {j-Clubs} on the river for another 150,000.

Dudley called and Mermelstein folded as Cowen announced two pair without showing his cards, which Dudley had beat with the {a-Spades}{j-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} to win the pot.

Baptista Doubles Through Mermelstein

Niveau 21 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

Aaron Mermelstein raised to 150,000 in the cutoff and Duarte Baptista shoved all in for 440,000 on the button. The blinds folded and Mermelstein called, stating he had dust.

Duarte Baptista: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}{j-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}
Aaron Mermelstein: {10-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{4-Clubs}

"That's not dust!" Baptista pointed out. The flop came {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} which still kept it a fair fight. The {q-Clubs} on the turn and the {9-Spades} on the river changed nothing and Baptista held on to double up.

James Park

James Park had most of his short stack in already against Aaron Mermelstein and the rest of it went in after the {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{10-Spades} flop with Park at risk for 230,000.

James Park: {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{6-Spades}{3-Spades}
Aaron Mermelstein: {k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}

The {5-Clubs} turn gave Park some hope but the {q-Hearts} river sent the Brit to the rail in 15th place for $83,960.
