Lee on Early Short Stack

Niveau 2 : 100/200, 300 ante

Bernard Lee's stack was already among the shortest in the room when he took another hit recently.

The poker author and podcaster who finished second in this event in 2017 raised to 600 on the button and was called by Ryan Johnson in the big blind.

After each player drew one, Lee bet 1,500 and was quickly called.

Lee showed {10-}{8-}{7-}{6-}{3-}, but was pipped by Johnson's {10-}{8-}{5-}{4-}{3-} to drop below the 5,000 chip mark.

Two re-entries are allowed in the tournament so if he does bust soon, his day may be far from done.

Raz Giving it a Chance

Niveau 2 : 100/200, 300 ante

Yanni Raz didn't get his wish for a refund, and so far he's doing quite well in a game he claims he has no idea how to play.

In his last hand, Raz called a raise from the cutoff and both he and his opponent took one. His opponent led out for 1,100 before Raz raised to 4,000.

His opponent called after a brief tank. "A big one," Raz said, showing 8-7-6-4-3 to take down the pot while apologizing to his defeated opponent.

"I told you to give it a chance. Way better than No-Limit Hold'em," a tablemate said to him after the hand.

Daly Scores Early Knockout

Niveau 1 : 100/100, 200 ante

The cards were already on their back and a player had their entire 25,000 stack in the middle as Jason Daly was showing 7-6-5-3-2. His opponent had 8-7-6-4-2 and made an early exit from the tournament.

According to Daly, all the action occurred before the draw with multiple pre-draw raises.

Lin Teases a Shove

Niveau 1 : 100/100, 200 ante

in a four-way pot, Bradley Webert raised to 500 from the hijack and was called by the cutoff, Michael Hartzheim on the button and Ren Lin in the small blind.

Lin drew two, Webert and the cutoff drew one and Hartzheim drew two.

Lin then led out with a bet of 200, which was raised to 1,200 by Webert. The cutoff folded and Hartzheim called.

Lin paused briefly then put his hand on top of his chip stack, teasing a big raise, but then shook his head and tossed his cards in the muck.

Webert showed {9-}{7-}{6-}{4-}{2-}, while Hartzheim showed a winning {8-}{7-}{6-}{3-}{2-}.

Distenfeld in the Mix Early

Niveau 1 : 100/100, 200 ante

Action folded to Gershon Distenfeld in the small blind who raised to 500. The big blind called and stood pat, while Distenfeld took one.

Distenfeld led out for 800 after the draw and his opponent quickly called. The New York investment banker turned over 9-8-7-4-3 to win the pot and boost his stack early on.

Park 3-Bets, Pats, Then Folds

Niveau 1 : 100/100, 200 ante

Hye Park, a Main Event finalist last year, three-bet from the button to 1,500 and received a call from Rob Rightmire under the gun.

Rightmire drew one while Park stood pat. Rightmire led out for 2,500 after the draw and Park, after some consideration, tossed his hand away as Rightmire showed a 7-6.

Rightmire finished third in this event in 2011 and was knocked out on the bubble in 2019.

Lin Learning a New Game

Niveau 1 : 100/100, 200 ante
Ren Lin
Ren Lin

The always fun-loving and entertaining Ren Lin is an early participant in the tournament, telling the Pokernews team he's here to learn a new game.

In an early hand he called a 300 chip post-draw bet for his opponent to show {a-}{9-}{6-}{3-}{2-}, which beat Lin's {a-}{k-}{8-}{7-}{2-}.

Our team will be sure to keep an eye out for what kind of hands prompt Lin to break out his familiar declarations of "no gamble no future" or "touchdown Tom Brady".
