Defending Champ Lally Busts Abolfathi

Niveau 16
Jaswinder Lally
Jaswinder Lally

2-7 No-Limit Single Draw

Jaswinder Lally raised to 5,500 on the button and Kianoush Abolfathi three-bet all in for around 25,000 from the small blind. The big blind folded and Lally called.

Abolfathi stood pat and immediately got to his feet after Lally stood pat behind and tabled {8-}{7-}{6-}{4-}{2-}

Abolfathi showed {j-}{8-}{7-}{5-}{3-} and reached forward to grab what his drawn card would have been. He would have drawn a {6-} but even that wouldn't have been enough, and he was eliminated.

Jason Su: {x-}{x-} / {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} / {x-}
Andrew Yeh: {x-}{x-} / {q-}{8-}{3-}{k-} / {x-}

With about 32,000 in the pot on fifth street, Jason Su bet and Yeh called. Su bet again on sixth street and Yeh called.

On seventh street, Su bet once more and Yeh shrugged and called again.

Su tabled {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}{a-Clubs} for quad aces, but no low. Yeh showed {6-}{4-}{2-} and took down the low portion of the pot.

Day 2 of Event #4: $1,500 Dealer's Choice 6-Handed starts today at 2:00 p.m. PDT. Of the 430 players that entered into the tournament, 123 remain as we head into Day 2.

The prize pool generated by those 430 entrants totaled $574,040, and first place will claim $126,288.

The chip leader through the first day of play is Dennis Eichhorn, sitting with 276,000 chips.

The field is brimming with excited mixed game players, all looking to surpass Eichhorn. Among the contenders is last year's champion, Jaswinder Lally (150,000), who will try to defend his title and become back-to-back champion.

Scott Bohlman (179,000), Brian Rast (169,500), and Adam Friedman (142,000) all look to make runs with healthy stacks as well.

Players have not yet reached the money. The top 65 players will cash, and a min-cash will earn $2,417. Levels will be 60-minutes long and players will try to survive ten levels today to make the third and final day tomorrow.

PokerNews will be on hand to cover all the mixed game action until we have a winner.
