Ruben Wins a Pot He Admits He Shouldn't Have

Niveau 22
Brad Ruben
Brad Ruben

Stud 8

Kevin Thomas: {x-}{x-}/{q-Spades}{5-Spades}{5-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}/-folded
William Lahti: {x-}{x-}/{k-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{9-Spades}{8-Hearts}/-folded
Brad Ruben: {6-Diamonds}{2-Spades}/{6-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{a-Spades}/{x-}
Josh Tabak: {x-}{x-}/{q-Hearts}{4-Spades}{7-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}/{x-}

Four players were in the pot on fourth street. Kevin Thomas bet, and was immediately raised by Brad Ruben to his left. William Lahti, Josh Tabak, and Thomas all called.

On fifth street, Thomas checked, Ruben bet again, and all three other players called once more.

On sixth, Thomas checked, Ruben bet, but this time only Tabak called and took the hand to seventh.

On seventh, Ruben moved his last 17,000 in blind and Tabak called.

"Aces up with a missed low and flush draw," said Tabak.

That was good enough to scoop the pot as Tabak missed his low as well.

"I know, I don't deserve to win that pot," said Ruben.

"Floor," yelled another player who mockingly agreed with Ruben.

"Hey lowlife," chimed in Norman Chad.

"Why did I look up when he said that?" laughed Ruben.

"You're over there criticizing, you were just down to the felt," as Chad pointed to his own wall of chips.

Pearson Spikes the River to Double

Niveau 22

Big O

Three players, including Travis Pearson and Tom Schneider, saw a flop of {q-Spades}{10-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}. Schneider bet 25,000 and Pearson called all in for less.

Pearson immediately got up from his seat when Schneider turned over {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} for the flopped straight. Pearson, with {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Diamonds}, needed help but didn't get it on the {5-Hearts} turn.

Down to his last card to avoid elimination, the dealer turned over the {k-Clubs} on the river to give Pearson a higher straight. "Oh my God," he said as he sat back down, his tournament saved on the river.

Richey's Comeback Ends

Niveau 22

No-Limit Hold'em

Brett Richey was down to 20,000 earlier in the day but had built his stack back up to 150,000 before tangling in a pot with Kevin Thomas.

From the small blind, Richey moved all in with {a-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} and Thomas snap-called from the big blind with {a-Spades}{k-Spades}. Both players hit an ace on the {a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} flop, but Thomas' king-kicker played as the board ran out {9-Spades}{2-Clubs}.

Fountotos Claims Su's Stack

Niveau 22

Badeucy

Heads-up on the second draw, Jason Su put out a bet and left himself just 10,000 behind. Nicolas Fountotos called and drew two while Su patted.

Fountotos put Su all in and was snap-called. Both players stood pat on the final draw.

Fountotos turned over {7-Spades}{5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} for a seven-five low and a Badugi, besting the {8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} of Su and securing the knockout as Su became the first player to head to the payout desk after dinner.

Lally Wins a Weird One

Jaswinder Lally
Jaswinder Lally

2-7 Triple Draw

Joseph Couden raised pre-draw and Jaswinder Lally three-bet out of the blinds. Before Couden could act, Lally tapped the table, signifying he was standing pat.

"I haven't acted on my hand yet," said Couden.

"Sorry, I was already standing pat," replied Lally.

Couden then decided to put in the fourth bet and Lally called.

Lally indeed stood pat, and so did Couden. Lally check-called a bet from Couden and both players stood pat on the second draw.

Both players checked and then stood pat again. On the final round of betting, Lally bet and Couden called.

"Eighty-six," said Lally. Couden tossed his cards into the muck before Lally opened {4-}{4-}{8-}{6-}{2-}.

"You had four-four," said a tablemate as the pot was pushed to Lally. Couden indicated that Lally's verbal announcement caused him to muck the winning hand, but with Couden's hand irretrievable Lally was awarded the pot.

Lally, Bransford Chop Up Prociak

Niveau 21

Badeucy

On the second draw, David Prociak put out a bet and Jaswinder Lally called. Charles Bransford then raised from the small blind and both opponents called.

Prociak and Bransford drew one while Lally stood pat. Bransford and Prociak checked to Lally who bet and was met by two calls.

Lally showed {8-Spades}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{2-Spades} for an eight-six low and Badugi, while Bransford had {a-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} for a better Badugi. Prociak mucked as his two opponents chopped up his chips.

Phan Doubles Through Eichhorn

Niveau 21

Badugi

Young Phan was all in for 46,000 before the draws against Dennis Eichhorn.

Phan stood pat all three draws, while Eichhorn drew one on each draw.

"What have I got to beat?" asked Eichhorn and Phan tabled {j-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{3-Spades} for a jack badugi.

Eichhorn turned over {5-Hearts}{2-Spades}{a-Clubs} and Phan jokingly slid his six of diamonds across to "complete" a six badugi. Eichhorn actually drew the {6-Clubs} to make a three-card five and Phan doubled up.
