Spano Rivers a Flush to Double Up

Niveau 20 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

Action was picked up on the {9-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{j-Spades} flop with around 170,000 in the pot.

Kirk Spano led out with a jam for 290,000 from the cutoff. His opponent, the big blind, made the call with Spano covered.

Kirk Spano: {8-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Big blind: {k-Spades}{j-Hearts}

The big blind was ahead with top pair, but Spano had plenty of outs with his open ended straight draw and flush draw. The {10-Hearts} turn saw him pick up more outs as he paired his 10. Any seven, eight, ten, or diamond would give Spano the better hand.

"C'mon baby half way there," he said, pleading with the dealer and the poker gods for a good river. His wish was granted as the {j-Diamonds} river hit the board, completing the flush for Spano, who scooped the pot to double up.

Mann Doubles Up with Kings over Queens

Niveau 20 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

After a raise from early position to 50,000, action folded around to Howard Mann. Mann thought for a moment before moving all his chips into the middle of the pot. The original aggressor made the call quickly with Mann covered.

Opponent: {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}
Howard Mann: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}

The board would offer no help to Mann's opponent, as the runout came {2-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{a-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades}, ensuring that Mann's kings were still good. He scooped the pot and doubled his stack.

Mohammadi Sweats, Spins Up

Niveau 19 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Homan Mohammadi shoved his 107,000 from early position and the small blind, who was extremely deep stacked, decided to call it off.

Homan Mohammadi: {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}
Small Blind: {10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}

The flop came {5-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{10-Spades} to give Mohammadi bottom set and a huge lead but the {7-Clubs} turn gave the small blind an open-ended straight draw.

The {q-Hearts} river gave Mohammadi the double up.

Minutes later, Mohammadi was in a four-way pot that narrowed itself down to two by the river. With 302,000 in the middle on a {4-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{8-Hearts} board, he shoved his final 122,000 and told his opponent he had top set.

His opponent folded and he turned over {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} and said "See, poker players don't lie. I was telling the truth!"

Devine Eclipses Two Million Mark

Niveau 19 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Over on table 499, Patricia Devine has built a massive chip stack, clearing 2,000,000. A few players at at her table told PokerNews about one of the hands that helped her get there.

Devine had {a-Hearts}{5-Hearts}, while her opponent held {a-Spades}{9-Spades}. The flop was nine high with two hearts, giving her opponent top pair top kicker and Devine the nut flush draw. Her opponent shoved for 700,000 and she made the call with 1,100,000 behind to have him covered. The turn was another heart, giving her the flush, and the massive pot while her opponent was eliminated.

David Hadaway told us that when Devine sat down, she told the table that she just wanted to be the last woman standing, to which Hadaway asked her, "Why not the last person?"

Devine is in pursuit of her first bracelet, and positioned as well as anybody in the field to capture it.

Across the table from her, Carl Masters has built quite a stack of his own, clearing the 1,000,000 mark.

Pham Traps Herself, Eliminated from the Tournament

Niveau 19 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

When Christy Pham opened in late position and John Hartmann just called from the big blind, she did not know yet it was her last hand.

On a {j-Clubs}{k-Spades}{a-Hearts}, Pham bet 75,000 and Hartmann check-raised to 175,000. She pushed her stack for around 290,000 and Hartmann snap-called.

Christy Pham: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}
John Hartmann: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

Pham made two-pair on the flop but Hartmann flopped a set. And after an {8-Hearts} and a {7-Clubs} completed the board, Christy Pham was eliminated. John Hartmann is now really close to a million.

Fentisov Improves for Knockout

Niveau 19 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Action was picked up as Viacheslav Fentisov called his opponent's jam of 97,000 with him covered.

Opponent: {q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Viacheslav Fentisov: {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}

Fentisov was ahead, but would need to dodge his opponent's overcards. He got some help on the {4-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{8-Spades} flop, as he improved to a set without his opponent picking up a pair or any clubs. The {a-Clubs} on the turn paired the board and improved Fentisov even further to a full house. The {7-Spades} river changed nothing, and the pot belonged to Fentisov.
