Sarnoff and Pett Trending in Opposite Directions

Niveau 34 : 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante

Mark Pett raised to 900,000 in early position and was called by Ben Sarnoff on the button and Biagio Morciano in the big blind. The flop fell {q-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and the action checked around to the {10-Clubs} on the turn.

It checked to Sarnoff on the button who tossed in a bet of 800,000. Morciano quickly folded but Pett stuck around to see the {j-Spades} on the river.

Pett led out with a bet of 3,000,000 this time and Sarnoff thought it over before making the call. Pett showed {8-Spades}{8-Hearts} for a pair of eights but Sarnoff rivered the best hand with {k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} for a pair of jacks.

Alexander Hill Eliminated in 9th Place ($67,471)

Alexander Hill
Alexander Hill

Alexander Hill open-shoved for 6,950,000 from early position and Ben Sarnoff called from the hijack.

Alexander Hill: {a-Hearts}{8-Spades}
Ben Sarnoff: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

Hill was behind but flopped the world on the {a-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{4-Hearts}. However, his joy was short-lived as the {j-Spades} rolled off on the turn.

The {7-Spades} river was no help and Hill had to settle for ninth place and $67,471.

Sarnoff, meanwhile, is now up to 55,000,000 and has nearly 40% of all the chips in play.

Morciano Wakes Up with Aces

Niveau 34 : 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante

Jan Pettersson opened to 1,200,000 in early position and Biagio Morciano three-bet to 2,800,000 in the small blind. Pettersson four-bet shoved all in and Morciano called off his stack of 6,425,000.

Biagio Morciano: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}
Jan Pettersson: {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

Morciano was in a great position to double up and the flop of {10-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} left him well out front. The {q-Spades} on the turn provided a small sweat but the {5-Spades} on the river ensured Morciano of a double-up.

From the small blind, Eric Smidinger shoved into Mark Pett, who only had 1,650,000 behind.

With just over three big blinds, Pett debated his decision for about a minute before making the call.

Mark Pett: {q-Hearts}{3-Spades}
Eric Smidinger: {a-Diamonds}{6-Spades}

The flop came {5-Spades}{10-Hearts}{2-Clubs} to keep Smidinger in front. The {a-Hearts} came on the turn to give Smidinger top pair but provided straight outs for Pett.

Pett couldn't find his four as the {7-Spades} completed the board, ending his day.

The remaining seven players are all guaranteed at least $110,662.

Mitchell Finds a Triple Up

Niveau 35 : 250,000/500,000, 500,000 ante

Kathy Liebert raised to 1,000,000 in the hijack and was called by Andres Korn in the cutoff. Charles Mitchell was the short stack on the table and pushed all in for 2,650,000 in the small blind. Liebert asked for a count and took her time before calling which invited Korn to come along as well.

The flop came {k-Hearts}{5-Spades}{5-Diamonds} and both remaining players checked through to the {6-Clubs} on the turn and the {2-Spades} on the river. Two more checks to reach showdown and Mitchell tabled {a-Spades}{k-Clubs} for the best hand.

Sarnoff Picks Off Liebert

Niveau 35 : 250,000/500,000, 500,000 ante

Kathy Liebert opened for 1,000,000 from under the gun and was called by Ben Sarnoff in the hijack and Biagio Morciano from the button.

The flop came {a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} and Liebert continued for 2,000,000. Sarnoff raised to 5,000,000. Morciano folded and Liebert called.

The turn came the {q-Spades} and both players checked.

On the {k-Diamonds} river, Liebert checked over to Sarnoff, who pushed a 20-stack of brown 500,000 chips (10,000,000) in front of him. Liebert laughed, wondering if Sarnoff was just using his big stack to his advantage. She showed the crowd her hand and threw her cards into the muck.
