World Series of Daniel's? Zack, Weinman (But Not Negreanu) Lead POY Race

Niveau 5 : 300/500, 500 ante
Daniel Zack
Daniel Zack

The 2022 World Series of Poker, through three weeks, has been dominated by two Daniel's, one of whom, surprisingly, isn't a Negreanu.

Daniel Zack, the only double bracelet winner this summer, and Daniel Weinman are the top two in the current WSOP Player of the Year standings. Daniel Negreanu, a perennial POY candidate and two-time winner (2004 and 2013), is still trying to catch a break and hit a heater before it's too late to get back into contention.

As "DNegs" proved last fall, he's never out of it. Following a slow start at the 2021 WSOP, the GGPoker ambassador closed out the series on a flurry with consecutive third place finishes, which put him in third place behind the champion Josh Arieh and Phil Hellmuth.

Negreanu didn't win Player of the Year last fall, but his late surge showed that even with just three small cashes thus far in 2022, you can't assume he's drawing dead.

"ALLinPav" is on Winning End of a Cooler

Niveau 5 : 300/500, 500 ante

All the chips were in the middle pre flop by two players. Popular online poker Twitch streamer Hristivoje "ALLinPav" Pavlovic was all in and at risk against his opponent who called his shove.

Hristivoje Pavlovic: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}
Opponent: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

Pavlovic was on the good side of the classic kings into aces cooler. The board ran out {9-Clubs}{5-Spades}{4-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and the aces of Pavlovic held up giving him a full double up.

Johnson Flops The World

Niveau 6 : 300/600, 600 ante

On a flop of {j-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} in a pot of 8,700, Canada's David Johnson bet 3,800 from the small blind and was called by Michael Gathy on the button.

The turn came the {7-Clubs} and Johnson now checked. Gathy bet 4,500 which was called. The {6-Diamonds} river completed the board and Johnson led out for 10,600. Gathy put some thought before flicking in a chip for the call.

Johnson rolled over {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} for the rivered flush and scooped in a large pot.

Brunner Shoves Flop

Niveau 6 : 300/600, 600 ante

In a pot of roughly 14,000 on a flop of {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} Josh Brunner checked from middle position and the hijack player bet 10,000. Brunner moved all in for 28,600 total.

"You show if I fold?", said the hijack as he tanked deciding what to do. He eventually folded and Brunner was kind enough to show {a-Clubs}{k-Spades} for top-pair and a straight draw.
