Harris Catches Bluff for Big Double Up

Niveau 23 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Gerry Harris
Gerry Harris

Gregory Hawes raised to 100,000 from the cutoff and was three-bet to 250,000 by Gerry Harris on the button.

Hawes called and the duo saw a flop of {6-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}. The players both checked, but on the turn {a-Diamonds}, business picked up.

Hawes checked to Harris, who bet 200,000. Hawes then check-raised to 600,000 and with just 300,000 behind, Harris called.

On the river {7-Clubs}, Hawes moved in for Harris' last 300,000, and Harris called.

Hawes showed {10-Spades}{9-Spades} for a failed bluff, while Harris showed {a-Spades}{k-Spades} for top pair, top kicker to earn a healthy double-up, while Hawes still remains healthy with over a million chips.

Takano Triples With Three Outter

Niveau 23 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Three players were all in preflop with Megumi Takano getting it in with the worst of it, but it didn't matter. The cards were flipped.

Megumi Takano: {a-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Opponent 1: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Opponent 2: {a-}{q-}

When the board ran out {3-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}, she spiked the perfect 10 card to improve and held on the river, busting one player and almost tripling up.

She was so excited she started clapping and cheering and she went over to her rail to celebrate. Catching up with one of her friends, they told PokerNews this is her first ever World Series of Poker.

She then went on to knock out a player in a flip situation. Takano is on quite the heater.

Todd Saffron
Todd Saffron

Todd Saffron was just all in at risk with his 905,000 committed against his opponent as cards were tabled preflop.

Todd Saffron: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}
Opponent: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

It was great news for Saffron in the cold deck situation when the board ran out {8-Hearts}{9-Spades}{j-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} and Saffron pumped his fist as he saw the river come in to secure his double up.

A Friendly Tank to Help Make a Pay Jump

Niveau 22 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

With 207 players remaining according to the tournament clock, Muskan Sethi moved all in for her last 150,000 from early position and Patrick Pilko called her in middle position.

Royce Kim was in the big blind and pointed out to Sethi that there was a pay jump at 206 places. He offered to "tank" for a bit, so she could make a $151 pay jump. The rest of the table was fine with the offer and had a brief friendly chat before Kim finally folded.

Muskan Sethi: {a-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Patrick Pilko: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}

Sethi was dominated and the flop coming {q-Spades}{9-Spades}{6-Clubs} certainly didn't help. the {3-Clubs} turn and {7-Hearts} river finished Sethi's day, but Kim's friendly tank did the trick as she made the pay jump and finished in 202nd place for $1,277.

Meet James Lovell, Father of 6, U.S Airforce 26 Years, Brain Tumor Survivor Playing His First WSOP Event

Niveau 22 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
James Lovell
James Lovell

PokerNews caught up with James Lovell, who is sitting on around 600,000 with 209 left in the Salute to Warriors event. James, who served in multiple tours in the Gulf in Operation Southern Watch and had a career in the U.S Airforce spanning 26 years. Playing in his first ever World Series of Poker event, he's now cashed 100% of tournaments he's played.

Jim, as he likes to be referred to had gone through an operation in March to remove a tumor from his brain and has the impressive scar as a memento. He had to undergo two further operations, one to help with an infection he got from the original operation. He had a plastic plate screwed down, held in place by part of his jaw.

Not only has he gone through all of the above but he has 6 kids, too. Surely they are very proud of their dad's achievements and his resolve is on show now in this tournament.

Jim now works for the United States Army's Family and MWR Programs (FMWR), which helps families of U.S forces with all kinds of things including morale, welfare and recreational programs.

Niveau 22 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

One of the Day 1 chip leaders, Gerry Harris has continued to build his stack steadily through the day.

In a recent hand, he raised to 60,000 under the gun and was called by a player in middle position.

On a flop of {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}{3-Spades}, Harris continued for 65,000 and got a call from his opponent.

The turn brought the {5-Clubs}, and Harris turned up the heat with a bet of 200,000.

Harris' opponent folded to send another healthy pot his way and build his stack near the two million mark.
