Cates Takes From Ashton

Niveau 18 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Seven Card Stud

Matthew Ashton: {x-}{x-} / {4-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{6-Spades}{10-Diamonds} / {x-}
Dan Cates: {x-}{x-} / {q-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{9-Spades} / {x-}

In the hand just prior, Benny Glaser was unable to get Matthew Ashton off a pair of sevens with his open board of {j-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{10-Diamonds} and he dropped below 1.5 million while Ashton dragged in the pot with a pair of sevens.

Ashton then limped in and called once Dan Cates completed. On fourth and fifth street, Ashton bet his advantage for Cates to call, who then bet sixth street when checked to. Ashton also checked seventh street and Cates bet to force a quick fold, further pulling ahead at the top of the leaderboard.

At nearly the same time, Johannes Becker had a potential four-card straight showing against fellow German High Roller Koray Aldemir, who tank-called with a pair of tens showing. Becker revealed a six-high straight with a busted straight flush draw and raked in the pot to surpass Aldemir on the leaderboard.
