Cimpan's Queens Hold for Knockout

Niveau 3 : 200/300, 300 ante

Action was picked up with around 15,000 in the pot and a flop of {j-Hearts}{10-Spades}{4-Spades}.

The small blind led out for 7,000, and Cornel Andrew Cimpan made the call from late position.

On the {5-Spades} turn, the small blind moved all in with about 8,500 behind. Cimpan, with his opponent covered, snap called.

Opponent: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Cornel Andrew Cimpan: {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}

Cimpan was ahead, but his opponent did have outs. Fortunately for Cimpan, the {2-Clubs} river was not one of those outs, and he collected the pot while his opponent headed for the rail.

TAG TEAM TIME | JUNGLE MAN IS RANDY SAVAGE?! | Day 27 Highlights | WSOP 2022

Niveau 3 : 200/300, 300 ante

Day 27 of the 2022 World Series of Poker saw the start of the ever-popular $1,000 Tag Team - with the likes of Veronica Brill, K.L. Cleaton, Ben Spragg, Andrew Neeme, and more all getting involved in the action early on.

Elsewhere, more bracelet winners were crowned as Brazil's Joao Simao celebrated his second piece of WSOP hardware in the $5,000 No-Limit Holdem/Pot-Limit Omaha Mix.

Russell Scores Early Knockout

Niveau 3 : 200/300, 300 ante

Action was picked up after the cutoff had moved all in for 7,700. Vincent Russell, from under the gun, raised to isolate, putting a tall stack of pink 5,000 chips and yellow 1,000 chips into the middle, for a raise of more than a starting stack. He successfully isolated the cutoff, as the rest of the table folded, and it was time for showdown.

Cutoff: {8-Hearts}{9-Spades}
Vincent Russell: {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}

Russell had his opponent dominated, but the {j-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{10-Hearts} flop gave his opponent an open ended straight draw. The {8-Spades} turn gave the opponent even more outs. Any queen, seven, eight, or nine would keep the cutoff alive. Instead, the {a-Clubs} river secured the pot for Russell, who has quickly built one of the largest stacks in the field.

Shuster Doubles Up with Ace-King Over Ace-Queen

Niveau 4 : 200/400, 400 ante

Action was picked up with around 25,000 in the pot and a board of {a-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{7-Spades}{a-Diamonds}.

The late position player fired for 10,000. Eugene Shuster, on the button, moved all in with the effective stack of about 22,000. After a bit of thought, his opponent made the call.

Opponent: {a-}{q-}
Eugene Shuster: {a-}{k-}

Both players had trip aces, but Shuster was ahead with his top kicker against his opponent's second kicker. When the {10-Diamonds} river hit, Shuster let out a loud "Yes!" as the pot was his. He raked in his winnings, doubling his stack.

Hemphill's Jacks Get a Knockout

Niveau 5 : 300/500, 500 ante

A raise to 1,200 came from early position, getting a call from middle position before the button reraised to 4,500, getting calls from George Hemphill in the small blind, as well as the players in early and middle position.

On the {10-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{9-Spades} flop, action checked around to the button who fired for 6,000. Hemphill called before a shove of 21,100 came from early position. The middle position player and button got out of the way, before Hemphill put in the call with his opponent covered.

Opponent: {6-Spades}{7-Spades}
George Hemphill: {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}

Hemphill was ahead with his jacks, and the {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} runout offered no help to his opponent, who was sent to the rail. As Hemphill stacked his winnings, the button lamented his decision to fold, saying "I can't believe I folded chop suey," seeming to imply he held pocket jacks as well, "I thought you had a bigger pair."

Mazer Hits on River to Bust Kings for Knockout

Niveau 5 : 300/500, 500 ante

After the hijack put in a raise to 4,400, Howard Mazer reraised to 11,600 on the button. The hijack was the only caller, and it was heads-up action to the flop.

On the {5-Spades}{q-Spades}{j-Clubs} flop, the hijack moved all in for about 15,000. Mazer made the call with his opponent covered.

Opponent: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Howard Mazer: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}

With Mazer behind, the {6-Clubs} turn did nothing. However, the {a-Diamonds} river improved Mazer to two pair, more than enough to bust his opponent's pocket kings, giving Mazer the pot, and sending his opponent to the rail.

Tidwell Comes From Behind For Knockout

Niveau 5 : 300/500, 500 ante

After the raise to 2,000 from Jimmy Tidwell under the gun got calls from the cutoff and small blind, the big blind moved all in for 29,500. Tidwell made the call with his opponent covered. The rest of the table got out of the way and it was time for showdown.

Opponent: {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}
Jimmy Tidwell: {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}

Tidwell was behind, and the {5-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} flop did nothing to change that, but the {j-Diamonds} on the turn gave him a pair to put him out in front. The {10-Hearts} on the river helped neither player, and Tidwell's pair of jacks were still good, sending his opponent to the rail.
