Botfeld Makes the Right Call

Niveau 20 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

In a raised pot, the flop read {2-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} when the big blind player and Amanda Botfeld checked.

The turn brought the {9-Clubs} and this time Botfeld called a bet worth 40,000 from her opponent.

The {k-Hearts} paired the board on the river and the big blind pushed all in for 175,000. Botfeld tanked for some time and tabled {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}. "Good call" said her opponent, showing {j-Spades}{7-Hearts} before exiting the tournament's area.

Tamasauskas Turns Trips for Knockout

Niveau 20 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

Action folded around to Vincas Tamasauskas on the button. He moved all in with 215,000 behind. After the small blind folded, the big blind made the call as the small stack, with about 140,000 behind.

Big blind: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Vincas Tamasauskas: {k-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}

Tamasauskas was dominated. He appeared to move out in front when the {7-Clubs} appeared in the window, but when the full {a-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} flop was spread, it was his opponent who had hit top pair. Then the turn put the {7-Spades} on the board, giving Tamasauskas trips. The {5-Hearts} river changed nothing, and Tamasauskas eliminated his opponent and scooped the pot.

Truong Busts One and Doubles Up

Niveau 20 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

The player on the button raised to 35,000 and Patrick Truong jammed in the big blind for an effective stack worth 515,000. After some consideration, his opponent called with the exact same stack with {6-Clubs}{6-Spades} but only to see {8-Spades}{8-Clubs} in Truong's hand.

The board didn't bring any surprise with {3-Spades}{5-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}, improving Truong's hand into a set of eights to bust his opponent and scoop the pot.

Joker Card on the Flop During a $1M Gtd. Poker Tournament?

Niveau 19 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Joker card on the flop?
Joker card on the flop?

The 2022 PokerNews Cup at Golden Nugget has been a rousing success, easily surpassing the $1 million guarantee, and there's one hand that will probably be talked about for quite some time.

During Monday's Day 2 session in the $1,100 buy-in no-limit hold'em tournament, an odd flop appeared at one of the tables on the very first hand. The flop came out {2-Hearts}, {9-Hearts}, and Joker. Yes, a Joker was somehow left in the deck, and one player seated at another table captured the hand on video, which was then posted on the PokerNews YouTube channel.

Gunn Hits River to Survive

Niveau 19 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Action was picked up with the big blind and Jason Gunn having moved all in. Gunn was the small stack, and playing for the main pot with around 200,000 in it. The big blind had north of 200,000 more, and action was on the button with the big blind looking for side pot action. Eventually, the clock was called on the button, and he mucked his hand a few seconds before the clock expired.

Jason Gunn: {k-Hearts}{6-Hearts}
Big blind: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}

Gunn was dominated, but the {5-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{j-Hearts} flop gave him a flush draw. When the flop hit the table, the button stood up and walked away in anger, moments later revealing that he had folded pocket jacks. The {9-Spades} on the turn changed nothing before the {q-Hearts} on the river completed his flush. Gunn scooped the pot and survived.
