Wu Flops the Nuts and Catapults to the Top

Niveau 5 : 0/0, 500 ante

Action picked up on the flop with a board of {10-Spades}{k-Spades}{j-Hearts}. The pot held about 12,000.

Zhongmin Wu had made a bet of 4,000 from the cutoff before Sergi Reixach moved all in for about 30,000. A third player also moved all in from the hijack, having both players covered. Wu grabbed a stack of chips and slammed them down for a call.

Zhongmin Wu: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Sergi Reixach: {j-Clubs}{q-Clubs}
Opponent: {7-Spades}{9-Spades}

We had the nuts, but needed to avoid spades. The {j-Diamonds} turn gave Reixach some full house outs as well. The river was the inconsequential {9-Hearts} and Wu's flopped straight held up for the huge win. Reixach went for the rebuy chip to get back in the game.

Marsico Takes Some From Wu

Philip Marsico
Philip Marsico

Zhongmin Wu raised to 4,500 from middle position and Chino Rheem made the call on the button. Left of the button, Phil Marsico raised to 9,000. Wu four-bet to 29,500. Rheem folded, but Marsico made the call to see a flop.

The flop showed up {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}. First to act, Marsico led with an all-in bet of 53,500. Wu immediately called.

Zhongmin Wu: {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}
Phil Marsico: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}

The turn was devastating for Wu when the {a-Clubs} hit to give @@ the better full house. With one out, the river {10-Diamonds} didn't help Wu and Marsico raked the large pot.

D'Ambrosio Gets it in Good in First Hand

Jimmy D'Ambrosio
Jimmy D'Ambrosio

Jimmy D'Ambrosio has entered the field. In his first hand played, he moved all in with {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} against his opponent's {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} and had his opponent dominated.

The board ran out an unfortunate {6-Clubs}{j-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} to give his opponent the straight and prevent D'Ambrosio from starting off with a quick double. He moved tables and went to work on his second bullet.

Four players saw a limped pot with Jimmy D'Ambrosio checking his option on the button.

The flop came {q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{10-Hearts}. Jonathan Depa bet 2,000, Ben Lamb folded, and Jimmy D'Ambrosio called on the button. The player next to act check-raised to 10,000.

Depa folded, and D'Amborosio moved all in for slightly more than that and was called.

"How bad?" asked D'Amborsio.

Jimmy D'Ambrosio: {8-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Opponent: {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}

"One out," said D'Ambrosio.

Unfortunately, the {7-Spades} turn and {k-Clubs} river were not that out. D'Ambrosio busted but quickly hopped back in for another entry.

Ivens on Right Side of Icy Cooler

Todd Ivens

Action picked up preflop with Zhongmin Wu three-betting to 30,000 from the button. His opponent, Todd Ivens, moved all in for 138,200, a similar stack to Wu's. After thinking for about a minute, Wu made the call.

Todd Ivens: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}
Zhongmin Wu: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}

Wu was looking for help, but he found none on the {j-Clubs}{j-Spades}{10-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{8-Spades} board.

"What can you do?" mused Chance Kornuth.

Wu, an early chip leader, saw his chips head to Ivens, a new big chip stack in the field.
