Marcus Wins Classic Race for Knockout

Niveau 10 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Daniel Marcus
Daniel Marcus

Fresh off of his second final table of the series in Event #57: $600 Deep Stack No-Limit Hold'em, where he finished fifth for the biggest cash of his career at $78,793, Daniel Marcus is hungry for more.

After the cutoff raised to 4,000, Marcus reraised to 15,000 from the small blind. A four-bet shove for 41,000 came from early position, and after the cutoff got out of the way, Marcus made the call with his opponent covered.

Opponent: {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}
Daniel Marcus: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

In the classic race, Marcus pulled ahead quickly on the {a-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{10-Spades} flop. The {2-Hearts} turn and {9-Spades} river changed nothing, and Marcus' pair of aces were still best. He raked in the pot while his opponent was sent to the rail.

Kovalski Finds Rockets

Niveau 10 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Fabiano Kovalski
Fabiano Kovalski

A player in late position opened to 4,000 and Fabiano Kovalski, who earlier today finished runner up in Event #67: $10,000 Super Turbo Bounty No-Limit Hold'em for $363,116, called on the button.

The late position player continued for 4,000 on a flop of {10-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{4-Spades} and Kovalski made the call.

On the {3-Clubs} turn the preflop raiser was in no mood to slow down and fired off another bet, this time sizing up to 7,000. Again, Kovalski called.

The late position player moved all in on the {a-Diamonds} river and Kovalski snap called and turned over {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts} for the third nuts, good enough to take down the pot and keep his heater of a day going.

Soma's Stronger Queen Good for Knockout

Niveau 10 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Leo Soma
Leo Soma

After a bit of betting and raising, the preflop action came back around to Leo Soma who was under the gun. He moved all in and received one caller from across the table who had the effective stack of 34,500.

Opponent: {j-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Leo Soma: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}

Soma was ahead with the bigger queen, and the {k-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{q-Clubs}{4-Spades}{9-Spades} runout paired both player's queens, and Soma took the pot with his better kicker, knocking out his opponent.

Panka Eliminated

Niveau 10 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Dominik Panka
Dominik Panka

Dominik Panka was down to 7,000 when action was caught; he was all in against two players.
Those two players, including Alex Outhred, went to the river on the board of {q-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{8-Spades}. The first player bet and Outhred called.

Dominik Panka:{k-Spades}{4-Clubs}
Alex Outhred:{q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Opponent: {6-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}

Panka left the table, not that happy, Outhred, made a pair of queens on that flop.

"I won nice pots against him before, this is why he was not so happy", stated Outhred, who now has more than five starting stacks.

Shulman Scores Knockout

Niveau 10 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Allyn Shulman
Allyn Shulman

Action was picked up after Allyn Shulman had jammed from the small blind. She got one call, the button, who she had covered.

Opponent: {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}
Allyn Shulman: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

Shulman was already ahead, and the {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{a-Clubs}{6-Clubs} runout did nothing to change that. She scooped the pot and wished her opponent well as he left the table.

Peffly Gets Outdrawn

Niveau 10 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Picking up the action on the flop, Alex Peffly in the cutoff was involved in a hand with a player out of the big blind. With the board reading {10-Spades}{a-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and a decently large pot in the middle, the big blind player led out for 10,500. Peffly responded by raising to 26,500 and his opponent called.

Both players checked through the {4-Hearts} turn to the {q-Clubs} river where the big blind checked again. Peffly checked back and was shown {k-Spades}{q-Spades} by his opponent.

"You thought you were good on the flop?" questioned Peffly as, with a look of disbelief, he tossed his hand into the muck.

Vaughan Takes a Big One

Niveau 9 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

The heads-up action was picked up with a complete board of {3-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} and around 60,000 already in the pot. Matt Vaughan fired from the hijack for 47,500. After a minute or two of deliberation, his opponent made the call from late position.

Vaughan showed {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} for trip aces, while his opponent exposed {k-}{q-}, not enough to best Vaughan, who scooped the pot to add to his stack, which is among the biggest in the field.

Hui Survives

Loni Hui
Loni Hui

After a raise to 5,000 from a player in early position, Loni Hui announced all in for 23,500 in middle position. The player who sat just after her then moved all in for 27,000.

The original raiser folded and Hui and her opponent could showdown.

Loni Hui: {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Opponent: {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}

The dealer produced a {4-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{10-Spades}{2-Diamonds} board and thanks to the ten on the turn, Hui won the flip to survive.
