Short Stacks Doubling

Niveau 18 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

While some short stacks have busted, others have been more fortunate and are fighting to stay alive.

One of them is Jacob Baumgartner, who moved all in from the small blind over a late position raise from Michael Russell and was met with a call from Kazuhiro Yotsushika in early position. Russell folded, and the players were heads-up.

Baumgartner's {k-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{4-Hearts}{2-Spades} outran Yotsushika's {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{6-Diamonds} on a {10-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{9-Hearts} board, making deuces full of tens to double up.

Kruk Chips Up Further With Aggression

Niveau 18 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

In a preflop three-bet pot, Jacob Baumgartner had the vast majority of his stack invested already and checked the {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{7-Hearts} flop with 56,000 behind in the big blind. Christopher Kruk then bet 65,000 on the button and Baumgartner immediately sighed before releasing his cards into the muck.

Szymaszek Among the Next Casualties

Niveau 17 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Matt Szymaszek
Matt Szymaszek

Matt Szymaszek had survived the money bubble with a short stack and stuck around for a while before he eventually got it in against Peter Brooks.

His {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} was up versus {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and the {a-Hearts}{j-Spades}{4-Hearts} flop and {9-Diamonds} turn were still doable despite the dominated hearts. However, the {k-Clubs} river was not enough for Szymaszek and he was sent to the payout desk while Brooks leaped above one million in chips.

Sion Chips Up Without Showdown

Niveau 17 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

After defending the big blind to see the {k-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} flop, Elior Sion invested 25,000 on the flop when facing Nitesh Rawtani and they headed to the {a-Spades} turn. Sion now bet 50,000 and Rawtani sigh-folded the {a-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} for three pair.

Le Folds to Zech's Aggression

Tommy Le

On the river of a {j-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{10-Hearts} board, David Coleman was in the tank when he faced a bet worth 45,000 by Tommy Le. He then tank-called and was shown the {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{2-Spades} for the straight by Le.

Soon after on the same table, Quirin Zech raised to 25,000 and Le came along from one seat over. The {7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} flop brought a check from Zech, a bet worth 20,000 by Le and a subsequent check-raise to 45,000. Le called and also came along on the {k-Clubs} turn when Zech bet 58,000.

After the {10-Hearts} river, Zech bet the pot for 180,000 and Le tank-folded.

Duek's Stack Keeps Growing

Michael Duek
Michael Duek

Michael Duek continues to hammer away after the bubble as his stack is approaching the 2,000,000 mark.

On a flop of {10-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}, Duek checked from the blinds to Kyle Merron who bet 35,000.

Duek responded with a check-raise to 200,000, which would put Merron all in.

Merron opted to fold and preserve his stack as another pot went the chip leader's way.
