Moreno Looking to Continue Heater on Day 3 of Event #71: $1,111 One More For One Drop

Andrew Moreno
Andrew Moreno

There are still 319 players in the running to take down the first-place prize of $535,610 and the World Series of Poker gold bracelet in the charity tournament Event #71: $1,111 One More For One Drop No-Limit Hold'em.

The One Drop Foundation is dedicated to providing clean water to those in need and over the course of the partnership with the WSOP they have raised more than $25 million dollars.

There were a total of 5,702 entries for this event, generating a prize pool of $5,074,891. The 319 survivors will return for Day 3 at 12 noon local time. Play will continue for another 10 levels of 60-minutes each before bagging up for the night. The blinds will begin at 10,000/20,000 with a 20,000 big blind ante. Those who find a bag today will return on Tuesday, July 12, at noon for Day 4 when they will play down to the final five players, or close to it.

Bagging up the lead last night was Jorge Walker (3,665,000), but it’s Andrew Moreno (2,470,000) in second, who has been on an absolute tear in the past year.

Moreno, the brother of popular poker vlogger Johnnie “Vibes” Moreno, just took home a second-place finish at the Wynn $3,500 NL Championships two weeks ago for nearly half a million dollars. He also won the $10,000 at the Wynn last June for another $1,460,000. He has other recent wins on his tournament resume as well and will be a big name to watch on Day 3.

Ryan Riess (2,110,000), the 2013 Main Event champ, also finds himself in the top ten. Another Main Event champ, Chris Moneymaker (1,550,000) is also still alive, as is Brazillian pro and two-time bracelet winner Joao Simao (2,075,000).

Follow all the action right here as the PokerNews will see this through to a winner, as well as our continuing coverage of the 2022 WSOP from Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas.

DiStefano Turns a Chop Into a Double Up

Niveau 21 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Vito DiStefano
Vito DiStefano

Neal Liptak opened under the gun for 50,000 and Dylan Cechowski called from the seat to his left. Vito DiStefano shoved all in for his final 405,000 from middle position and it folded around to Liptak, who also folded. However, Cechowski called off with his stack in excess of two million.

Vito DiStefano: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Dylan Cechowski: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}

As luck would have it, they both had the same hand. However, DiStefano was freerolling on a flush draw after the {6-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} flop.

As if DiStefano was at a craps table, he repeatedly called for his diamond: "Come on diamonds! Come on diamonds!"

Sure enough, the {3-Diamonds} popped up on the turn and he let out a full roar that the rest of the Bally's ballroom could surely hear.

The {j-Spades} completed the board and DiStefano took his stack from 405,000 to 910,000 on the very first hand of the day.

Kovalski Continues to Roll

Niveau 22 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Fabiano Kovalski
Fabiano Kovalski

There was already 290,000 in a blind-against-blind pot between Fabiano Kovalski and Daniel Pereira on the {8-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{7-Hearts} board.

Kovalski, who finished in second place in this year's $10,000 Super Turbo Bounty for a career-high $363,116 cash, bet 80,000. Pereira called, leaving just 340,000 chips behind.

The river brought the {q-Spades} and both players were content to tap the table. Kovalski announced "King!" and showed {k-Hearts}{7-Clubs}, which was more than enough to take down the pot.

With the win, Kovalski continues to climb, taking his stack from 630,000 at the start of the day to a hair under 1,500,000.

Betito Hits Runner-Runner Flush to Win 1.8 Million Chip Pot

Niveau 22 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Liran Betito
Liran Betito

On the last hand before break, Jorge Walker opened to 60,000 under the gun and Liran Betito three-bet to 155,000 from the seat to his left. Michael Thach cold-called from the cutoff and Walker called behind.

The flop came {q-Spades}{10-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and everybody checked.

The turn brought the {2-Spades} and Walker fired for 200,000. Betito called and Thach raised to 550,000. Walker folded and Betito called.

On the {4-Spades} river, both players quickly tapped the table. Betito showed {j-Spades}{7-Spades} for the runner-runner flush and it was good enough to take down a pot worth nearly 1,800,000 chips.

Anderson Spikes Set on Turn to Stay Alive

Niveau 23 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Francis Anderson
Francis Anderson

Francis Anderson was nearly all in for 360,000, leaving just 5,000 chips behind. Joao Simao called.

The flop came {a-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{10-Spades} and Anderson checked to Simao who put in the minimum bet. Anderson then announced that he was going to put in his final red chip but wanted to wait for the pay jump.

"Sorry guys, I need the extra $500 so I can go play the $777 (Event #75: $777 Lucky 7's)."

The clock was called and before Anderson could receive his ladder, the five-second count had started and Anderson called.

Francis Anderson: {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}
Joao Simao: {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}

Anderson was far behind and needed only a seven to stay alive. Fortunately for him, the {7-Clubs} came on the turn, drawing plenty of oohs and ahhs from the table.

The {q-Clubs} completed the board and Anderson managed to remain in the tournament.

Moneymaker Calls Correctly But Can't Fade Draw

Niveau 23 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Chris Moneymaker
Chris Moneymaker

From the hijack, Chris Moneymaker called an early position raise to 60,000 from Andrew Robinson in early position.

Robinson checked the {10-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{2-Spades} flop and Moneymaker bet 60,000. Robinson then check-raised to 230,000 and Moneymaker called.

On the {4-Diamonds} turn, Robinson moved all in for 505,000, and after some brief deliberation, Moneymaker called.

Andrew Robinson: {a-Spades}{7-Spades}
Chris Moneymaker: {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}

Moneymaker correctly called with third pair versus Robinson's flush draw with an ace for an extra three outs.

The river though brought the {9-Spades}, bringing in Robinson's draw to give him a huge win and drop Moneymaker's stack below a million.

Robinson Finishes off Moneymaker

Niveau 24 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Chris Moneymaker
Chris Moneymaker

After taking the majority of Chris Moneymaker's chips not long ago, Andrew Robinson completed the job and eliminated the 2003 Main Event champ in a recent hand.

After Jonathan Therme raised to 60,000 in early position, Robinson three-bet to 160,000 to his immediate left. Moneymaker then moved all in from late position and everyone folded to Robinson, who called.

Chris Moneymaker: {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}
Andrew Robinson: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

The flop came {q-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{4-Spades}, giving Moneymaker a set to take a stranglehold on the hand, but Robinson still had a gutshot Broadway draw.

Then just as he did in their previous encounter, Robinson indeed outdrew Moneymaker, drilling the {10-Diamonds} on the turn.

The river {5-Hearts} couldn't save Moneymaker, and despite holding large percentage leads in back to back hands with Robinson, he dropped both to be sent to the rail.

Hinkle Leads River, Wins Nearly Three Million-Chip Pot vs. Fung

Niveau 24 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Blair Hinkle
Blair Hinkle

Altynai Fung opened for 80,000 from the cutoff and Blair Hinkle raised to 250,000 from the small blind. Fung called.

The flop came {k-Hearts}{4-Spades}{5-Clubs} and Hinkle checked to Fung, who bet 175,000. Hinkle called.

The {9-Hearts} arrived on the turn and Fung kept betting, this time for 375,000. Hinkle called once more.

On the {6-Spades} river, Hinkle lead out for 600,000 which put Fung deep into the tank. After putting her hands on her head and deliberated for about two minutes, she begrudgingly put her 20-stack of greens topped off with one blue chip in front for the call.

Hinkle flipped over {k-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for the rivered two pair to take down a massive pot worth almost three million.
