Young Busts Two and Catapults Up the Leaderboard

Niveau 15 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Justin Young
Justin Young

Sergi Reixach was all in preflop with a short stack, action picked up with Justin Young and David Peters building a side pot.

The flop read {5-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{a-Hearts}. Young had checked to Peters from the blinds, Peters put out a bet of about 40,000. Young check-raised to 125,000 and Peters called while Reixach looked on.

The turn {j-Diamonds} landed and Young continued his aggression with a bet of 200,000. After some thought, Peters once again called.

On the river {q-Diamonds}, Young went all in, with Peter's 500,000 remaining chips being the effective stack. Peters begrudgingly made the call and saw the bad news.

"Set," said Young.

Justin Young: {5-Hearts}{5-Spades}
David Peters: {a-}{q-}
Sergi Reixach:{a-Spades}{9-Clubs}

Young sent both players to the rail and amassed a stack of about 65 big blinds for himself.

Brek Schutten
Brek Schutten

Rok Gostisa opened from early position and was three-bet to 250,000 by Brek Schutten on the button. Gostisa continued with a call, leaving himself about 380,000 behind.

The flop came {4-Spades}{7-Hearts}{6-Spades}. Gostisa checked in flow to Schutten, who went all in, having Gostisa well covered. Gostisa thought for about 20 seconds and made the call.

Rok Gostisa: {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Brek Schutten: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

The turn {x-Spades} gave Gostisa many more outs, but the blank river ended his day and left the table scratching their heads.

"That's what happens when you don't have a computer," said Alex Foxen.

Either way, Schutten was happy to collect the chips without having to make a pair.

Over at the next table, Freddy Deeb also busted and headed to the rail.

David Peters went all in from early position for 180,000. Justin Young went all behind him from late position for about 700,000. Action folded to Dan Shak from the big blind who had a decision with about 340,000 chips remaining.

"Oh baby," as Shak sat up in his chair. After thinking about 20 seconds, though, he folded and showed {a-}{j-}. "Don't make me sick," as he waited to see the flop.

Justin Young: {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}
David Peters: {a-Spades}{5-Spades}

The board ran out ace-high and Peters won the pot that could have gone Shak's way.

"At least it went to someone who needs it," joked Young.

"Whoops," said Moncek. "You have a pair?" Foxen said he did. "It doesn't matter unless I hit my set.

Players had to wait to reveal their hands given they were in hand-for-hand play. Once they did, Moncek saw what he had to beat.

Michael Moncek: {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}
Alex Foxen: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}

The board ran out clean for Foxen who sent Arieh home two shy from the money.

Moncek went for the backpack to find some run good. The flop came a dream {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}, giving Moncek a pair and the nut flush draw backup.

The {5-Hearts} sealed the deal on the turn and Moncek found a double through von Kriegenbergh.

"What a flop! What, can you see the future of the deck?" said von Kriegenbergh.

Moncek scooped the pot and survived as the bubble draws near.

Action picked up on the turn with about 270,000 in the pot. The board read {8-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{7-Spades}. Dan Colpoys placed a bet of 160,000 from the blinds and Sergi Reixach made the call in late position.

The river was the {7-Hearts}. Both players now checked.

"Flush," said Colpoys, as he showed the {3-Clubs}{4-Clubs}. Reixach mucked.

"Was that a really good card for you?" asked Colpoys, wondering if the paired board affected the outcome. Reixach shrugged.

"Probably didn't matter unless it was a club," surmised Colpoys.

Ivey Wins Two Consecutive All-Ins

Niveau 12 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

Just before the break, Phil Ivey moved all in from under the gun for 160,000 and only Sergi Reixach made the call in the small blind.

Phil Ivey: {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}
Sergi Reixach: {a-Diamonds}{8-Spades}

The board ran out {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{4-Hearts}, it started with bad news for Ivey as there was an ace on the flop. But, the good news was that there was also a queen for him to hit quads. Ivey secured the double and stayed alive.

The very next hand, Ivey found himself in the big blind. Chad Eveslage raised to 40,000 from late position and Ivey made the call with his newly acquired chips.

The flop came {3-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} and action went check-check on the flop. On the {2-Hearts} turn, Ivey now led for 50,000 and Eveslage called.

The river {3-Diamonds} hit the board. After some thought, Ivey went all in for 250,000. Eveslage thought for a bit before letting his cards go. Ivey peeked at his cards before returning them to the dealer.

"Oh, the look back?" said Eveslage.

"You just got bluffed," said a tablemate.

"I know, who does the look back without bluffing?" said Eveslage.

Ivey smiled and raked his second pot in a row on the comeback.

Sam Grafton wanted to get involved in the fun. "Phil, are you a full-time tournament grinder now? If you ever want to share a room or something, hit me up. I'm always looking to save money. I'd just like to extend that courtesy since you're a part of the scene now."

"Thanks," said the always verbose Ivey.
