Champion Flops a Set

Niveau 4 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

Action for this hand was picked up on the flop, but the preflop action was shared with PokerNews by the table after the fact.

After one player limped, the cutoff opened to 1,500. Will Champion called from the button, before the small blind put in a three bet to 5,200. The cutoff and Champion both called.

On the {4-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop, the small blind continued for 8,100. The cutoff called before Champion raised to 20,500. This sent the small blind into the tank for a few minutes. He kept tossing his hand up in confusion, seeming to be befuddled by such a large raise on a dry board. Eventually, he made the laydown. The cutoff quickly called and there was now more than a starting stack in the middle.

The {6-Diamonds} hit the felt on the turn. The cutoff snap jammed and Champion called.

Cutoff: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Will Champion: {2-Hearts}{2-Clubs}

The small blind shared that he had folded aces, happy to have done so upon seeing Champion's flopped set. The cutoff was behind and drawing thin to just a two outer to make the better set. The {k-Diamonds} on the river was a brick, and Champion scooped the big pot and sent the cutoff out of the tournament.

Gillis Doubles

Niveau 5 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

With 15,400 in the middle on the {9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{6-Clubs} turn, Ted Gillis moved all in from the big blind for 10,400 and was called by the hijack.

Ted Gillis: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}
Hijack: {q-Spades}{10-Spades}

A curious call by the hijack whose only out was an eight for a gut-shot straight. The river was the {k-Clubs} which secured Gillis's double-up and will be hoping it is the catalyst that they need to move up the rankings.

Blakeman Cracks Aces to Double Up

Niveau 5 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

After 16,300 went into the pot preflop, Benton Blakeman moved all in on the {9-Spades}{8-Clubs}{5-Clubs} flop from late position and got a caller in the cutoff, who had Blakeman covered.

Benton Blakeman: {5-}{5-}
Cutoff: {a-}{a-}

Blakeman was in good position with his flopped bottom pair putting him in the lead and in position to double his chip stack. The {3-Spades} turn and {7-Hearts} river changed nothing, and Blakeman scooped the pot.

Blakeman Takes Another One

Niveau 6 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

After an initial open got a few callers, the big blind three bet to 3,500. He got three callers, including Benton Blakeman in late position.

The table watched the {10-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop hit the table. Action checked to the early position player, who fired for 7,500. Blakeman called while the others got out of the way.

On the {q-Hearts} turn, the early position player continued by putting in 12,000. Blakeman again called. The {9-Spades} river completed the board, putting a gutshot on the felt. The early position player slowed down and checked over to Blakeman, who sized up a bet of 26,500 and tossed it in. The opponent tanked for a bit, counting his chips while doing so, before making the laydown to give Blakeman the pot without a showdown.

Ryn Flops Set for Knockout

Niveau 6 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

Two players paid 8,700 a piece to see the {7-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{3-Hearts} flop. The big blind led out on that flop for 10,000, and earned a call from Martin Ryn in the cutoff. On the {2-Clubs} turn, the big blind went all in and Ryn snap called to put his opponent at risk.

Big blind: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Martin Ryn: {3-Spades}{3-Clubs}

The big blind was already drawing dead with just ace high against Ryn's set. The {k-Diamonds} river improved the opponents hand to top pair, but it wasn't enough to take the pot, sending him to the rail why Ryn now has one of the biggest stacks in the field.
