Lussier Checks It Down After Fortunate Runout

Niveau 2 : 200/300, 300 ante

Roger Lussier raised to 600 from under the gun and received four calls, including from Kenny Tran in the big blind. The flop came {4-Spades}{8-Spades}{7-Hearts} and Lussier bet another 1,100.

A player in early position called, as did the button and Tran. The turn came the {k-Spades} and this time everyone checked.

All four players also checked the {a-Clubs} on the river and Lussier showed down {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} for runner-runner top two pair to take down the pot.

Fisk an Early Big Stack

Niveau 2 : 200/300, 300 ante

Action appeared on the turn with the board showing the {j-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}. With three players in the hand, big stack Michael Fisk was in the big blind and called a bet of 4,500 from his opponent while the third player in the hand folded to leave himself with only one 5,000 chip.

The river came the {7-Hearts}. Fisk checked and his opponent in early position made an over-bet of 20,000 with the pot at around 15,000. Fisk took his time and thought before laying out a raise to 50,000 to threaten his opponent's stack who had about 54,000 behind.

His opponent stewed it over for several moments before tossing his cards away and Fisk added more to his mountain of chips.

Pastoll Scores Knockout

Niveau 2 : 200/300, 300 ante

Action was picked up on the {q-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} flop with about 1,600 in the pot. Edward Pastoll led out for 2,400 from the button. His opponent, in the cutoff, raised to 11,000. Pastoll called.

On the {10-Hearts} turn, the cutoff led out for 10,000. After a minute or two, Pastoll moved all in. The cutoff snap-called with the effective stack of a bit north of 30,000.

Cutoff: {k-}{q-}
Edward Pastoll: {3-Clubs}{3-Hearts}

The cutoff had flopped top two pair, but that wasn't enough to beat Pastoll's bottom set. The river changed nothing, and Pastoll scooped the pot and eliminated his opponent.

Pedro Bromfman

Pedro Bromfman, who recently won his first bracelet in Event #38: $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw Championship, is chipping up early on Day 1a.

With roughly 8,000 in the pot on a {q-Spades}{5-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop, the small blind bet 6,000, and Bromfman called on the button.

Both players checked the {9-Hearts} turn to the {10-Hearts} river and the small blind bet 4,000. Bromfman called.

The small blind showed {a-Clubs}{10-Spades}, but it was no good against Bromfman's {q-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}, and the Brazilian film composer added to his stack.

D'Ambrosio Avoids Fremont Street

Niveau 2 : 200/300, 300 ante

Three players saw a flop of {7-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}. Jimmy D'Ambrosio checked to the middle position player who bet 1,400. Harry Kazazian thought for a while before folding his button.

"I'm just enjoying...it just pains you to fold, doesn't it Harry?" asked D'Ambrosio while tossing in the call.

The turn was the {6-Clubs} and D'Ambrosio checked again. His opponent bet 3,600 and D'Ambrosio again made the call.

The river fell the {7-Clubs} and both players checked the final street.

"I was trapping, what do you got? I've got you beat," said D'Ambrosio.

D'Ambrosio showed {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} for a full house, his opponent showed {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}.

"I would have busted you, I folded two pair," said Kazazian.

"You would have busted me. You would have sent me to Fremont Street dancing for nickels," said D'Ambrosio.

Robert Downs
Robert Downs

Action began on the river of a heads-up pot. Ryan Riess looked at a board of {k-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}. He led out for 5,000 from under the gun.

Robert Downs sat in the cutoff and raised it up to 13,000.

Riess went into the tank for about two minutes, eventually deciding on a call. Downs revealed {a-Clubs}{8-Spades} for turned trips, good enough to take the pot and cut Riess' chip stack down.

Nearby, Freddy Deeb has taken his seat and is ready to get into the action.
