Backa Adds More; Late Night Big Stacks

Niveau 10 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

The board read {3-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}. The pot was about 60,000 and Sergio Ramirez was facing a decision for his tournament life as Marsel Backa had forced him all in.

After several minutes, clock was called. The floor came over to administer the countdown and Ramirez folded with a few seconds left. Backa wanted to show only Ramirez the cards, so he took a picture with his phone to show later, but in the rush to get the cards back to the dealer, it was blurry and he showed the table the blurry picture where the hand could not be deciphered.

He claimed it was the {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} as he hauled in the pot to add more to his large stack. Meanwhile at the table next door, Shota Nakanishi has one of the largest stacks as well.

Daniel Negreanu has had a disappointing 2022 World Series of Poker, and that didn't change on Day 1c of the Main Event, but he did receive a good luck charm from one player on the rail, so there's that.

A wholesome moment took place Tuesday evening inside Bally's when Arash Shahi, a fellow Canadian from Toronto, approached the GGPoker ambassador who was seated at his table during the $10,000 buy-in world championship event.

Azoulay Takes it Down on the Flop

Niveau 10 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Action started on the flop in a heads-up pot. The board showed {a-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{10-Spades}.

Jonathan Azoulay had checked from middle position, his opponent put out a bet of 17,000, about half pot. Azoulay slid in a stack of red chips, enough to cover the 101,000 in his opponent's stack.

His opponent went into the tank, but eventually let go of his hand to ship the pot to Azoulay.

Aharoni Takes From Spragg

Niveau 10 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

The action was picked up in a pot of roughly 33,000 on a board showing {k-Spades}{10-Hearts}{5-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}. Daniel Aharoni bet 30,000 on the river after Benjamin Spragg checked from the small blind.

Spragg went deep in the tank, thinking for several minutes, before reluctantly tossing chips in to make the call. Aharoni tabled {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts} for the nut-straight and Spragg tossed his cards in the muck.

Merkow Wins with Choctaw Nuts

Niveau 10 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

In a limped pot, the flop came {j-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and after his opponent, Smith Collins checked, Gregg Merkow bet 3,500 and Collins called.

The turn was the {2-Spades} and both players checked.

But on the river {4-Hearts} Merkow bet 6,500 and his Smith folded.

"Should I show them what I have?" Merkow asked the guy next to him.

"Of course you should," the player replied.

And with that Merkow showed the table {j-Spades}{2-Diamonds} the stone-cold Choctaw Nuts for those that are familiar with the North Texas/Oklahoma term
