Mermelstein Still on the Rise, Holcomb Out

Niveau 23 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Hollis Holcomb was one of the shortest stacks left in the tournament and he shoved all in for 235,000 in the hijack. Aaron Mermelstein asked for a count from the cutoff and then splashed in a call. The rest of the table folded and the two hands were face up.

Hollis Holcomb: {a-Spades}{6-Clubs}
Aaron Mermelstein: {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

The flop came {j-Spades}{10-Spades}{5-Diamonds} with the ten in the window to give Mermelstein a huge edge. The {9-Clubs} on the turn left Holcomb drawing dead to the {7-Hearts} on the river as he was eliminated.

Dobric Wins Huge Pot with Quads

Niveau 23 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Matija Dobric
Matija Dobric

Action was caught with around 1 million in the pot on the {8-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{10-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop. Matija Dobric checked in the small blind before Martin Stashin bet 600,000 from the hijack. Dobric then moved all in for 1,900,000 and Stashin went deep into the tank.

After thinking through the hand, he settled on a call. Dobric proudly turned over his {5-Spades}{5-Clubs} for rivered quads while Stashin had the {2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} for deuces full of fives. After the stacks were counted, Stashin just had 100,000 remaining and then busted shortly after.

Smith Faces Decision for Tournament Life

Niveau 23 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Dan Smith
Dan Smith

With roughly 150,000 in the pot on a {a-Spades}{9-Hearts}{4-Clubs} flop, Florian Guimond had 45,000 over the betting line in middle position and was facing a raise to 175,000 by Dan Smith in the big blind.

The {6-Diamonds} landed on the turn, Smith checked, and Guimond went into the tank. Multiple television cameras surrounded the table to catch the action, and after a while, the clock was called. Guimond eventually bet 185,000, and Smith called.

The {k-Spades} completed the board and Smith checked. Guimond then moved all in to cover Smith's stack of approximately 600,000. Smith checked his cards again and deliberated, but ultimately mucked his hand to concede the pot to the Frenchman without a showdown.

Double Knockout for Kogel's Aces

Niveau 23 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Nathanael Kogel
Nathanael Kogel

The action folded to Sean Troha in the cutoff who pushed his short stack into the middle. Jose Barbosa was next to act on the button and also shoved all in for a little more. Nathanael Kogel was in the small and looked down at a monster as he called to put both players at risk.

Sean Troha: {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}
Jose Barbosa: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}
Nathanael Kogel: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}

The board ran out {10-Spades}{9-Spades}{8-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{2-Spades} and Kogel's pocket aces held up to eliminate both of his opponents, sending Kogel up the leaderboard.

De Jonge Crippled One Hand, Out The Next

Niveau 23 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Timur Margolin
Timur Margolin

Douglas Arauj Ferreira opened to 80,000 from the cutoff and was three-bet to 230,000 by Sebastiaan de Jonge out of the small blind. Arauj Ferreira responded with a four-bet to 390,000 which de Jonge called.

De Jonge checked to the four-bettor on a flop of {4-Hearts}{6-Spades}{3-Hearts} and then folded when Arauj Ferreira continued for 125,000.

The very next hand Timur Margolin opened to 85,000 from middle position and de Jonge jammed for 650,000 on the button. Action folded back around to Margolin who instantly made the call to put de Jonge at risk.

Sebastiaan de Jonge: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Timur Margolin: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}

De Jonge was flipping for his tournament life but fell way behind on the {3-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} flop. A miraculous comeback was not in the cards with the {8-Diamonds} turn and {q-Clubs} river completing the board to send de Jonge out of the main event.

Da Silva Gets Another Jam Through

Niveau 23 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

There was around 500,000 in the middle on the {2-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} board. Chris Da Silva checked in the big blind before the middle position player bet 380,000.

Da Silva, unfazed by his opponent's bet, moved all in as the covering stack. His opponent quickly gave it up and Da Silva raked in the chips.

Rebei Moves Back into Chip Lead With Jaeger Elimination

Niveau 23 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Karim Rebei
Karim Rebei

Action was on a flop of {a-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{5-Clubs} and Stephen Jaeger had bet 250,000 into a pot of around 500,000. His opponent was Karim Rebei who had then raised all in.

Jaeger still had 2,500,000 behind and took around five minutes to call, tabling {a-Spades}{k-Spades} for top pair.

Rebei held {k-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for king-high and a flush draw, and picked up an open-ended straight draw on the {4-Diamonds} turn.

The river {2-Spades} completed his straight, sent Jaeger to the rail and sent Rebei rushing to the rail to celebrate.

He now sits with well over 9,000,000 in chips and will be on feature table after the dinner break.
