Thiago Pirani

On a board of {a-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{2-Spades}{3-Clubs} Imran Bhojani bet 150,000 and Thiago Pirani called.

The river was the {4-Clubs} and both players checked. Pirani tabled {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts} and was good, taking down the pot.

Smith Survives Again

Niveau 24 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Dan Smith
Dan Smith

Dan Smith has found himself all in and at risk several times already today and each time has managed to avoid elimination. Vikenty Shegal opened to 100,000 in the cutoff and was called by Chris Da Silva on the button. Dan Smith then moved all in for 685,000 out of the small blind and Shegal responded by re-jamming. Da Silva got out of the way and Smith was officially at risk.

Dan Smith: {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Vikenty Shegal: {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}

It was a classic flip with Smith's tournament life on the line. The {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{6-Hearts} flop kept Shegal ahead, prompting Smith to get to his feet. The {j-Spades} turn handed Smith broadway and ensured he would get the full double prior to the meaningless {10-Diamonds} river. "Standing up always does it," remarked Smith as he retook his seat.

Two More Victims for Li

Niveau 24 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

Cory Gogerty was seen leaving his seat as the pot was being pushed to Victor Li. The Canadian made two pair on the river {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and Gogerty was on his way to the payout desk.

On the next hand, Li raised it up from the cutoff and Stefan Reiser pushed all in for a little under 800,000 on the button. The blinds folded and Li quickly called to put Reiser at risk.

Stefan Reiser: {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}
Victor Li: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

The board ran out {j-Spades}{6-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{3-Spades} and Li made the nut flush, also sending Reiser to the payout desk.

Keating Tank-Calls for Tournament Life

Niveau 24 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Alex Keating
Alex Keating

On a completed board of {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{q-Spades}{k-Hearts} with roughly 1,500,000 in the pot, Robert Minor had moved all in from the cutoff and Alex Keating had a huge decision in the hijack for his stack of approximately 1,600,000 and his tournament life.

"Why did you check so quick on the turn?" asked Keating, although he received no response.

Keating continued to talk quietly to himself and sometimes to his opponent while trying to make sense of the situation, as the television cameras awaited his decision.

"What's your name again?" Keating again tried to get his opponent to talk, but continued to receive no reaction. After some time, the clock was called. "Not a problem," Keating conceded that he was taking a long time to decide.

Keating put his hands on his pained face, and ultimately, put in the chips as he jumped up out of his chair and looked the other way, unable to lay his eyes on the result.

Minor tabled {a-Clubs}{k-Spades} for a full house, and Keating turned back around to see the bad news. "Nice hand," he said as he graciously shook his opponents' hands as his own hand was revealed to be {a-Hearts}{6-Hearts}. Keating turned away from the cameras and stayed standing in disbelief before making his way to the payout desk as his deep Main Event run came to an end.

Big Slick Keeps Hurting Gillian

Niveau 24 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Matija Dobric
Matija Dobric

Shaun Gillian had just lost the majority of his stack in the previous hand when he ran big slick into cowboys. He moved his remaining 40,000 into the middle from early position and Matija Dobric raised to 155,000 from late position. The remaining players got out of the way and Gillian was at risk.

Shaun Gillian: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Matija Dobric: {q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

Gillian was in a good spot to double up but that all changed on the {3-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{j-Hearts} flop. The {10-Clubs} turn and {2-Spades} brought no help, ending his main event run.
