Quads Dooms Asher Conniff at WSOP Main Event Final Table

Niveau 40 : Blinds 1,000,000/2,000,000, 2,000,000 ante
Conniff Bustout
Asher Conniff

Asher Conniff, one of the most accomplished players at the 2022 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event final table, was the first to go on Friday afternoon when he lost a race that turned into quads.

The New York poker pro took 10th place for $675,000, a huge payday but it was obvious after his bust out that he was disappointed in the short final table stay. But there wasn't much he could have done to avoid elimination given his stack size and the blinds when he moved all in.

Hand #112: Philippe Souki shoved for 19,600,000 from the button and Matija Dobric thought about it in the big blind for almost two minutes before calling.

Philippe Souki: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}
Matija Dobric: {q-Spades}{j-Spades}

The flop {a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} gave Souki top set but also gave Dobric a double-gutter to two straights. The turn {k-Hearts} completed the Broadway straight for Dobric.

Souki would need to fill up to stay alive but the river {4-Diamonds} sent him to the rail in eighth place, taking home

Hands #120-121: Eames Dodges Diamonds to Double; Duczak on Fumes

Niveau 41 : Blinds 1,250,000/2,500,000, 2,500,000 ante
John Eames
John Eames

Hand #120: Espen Jorstad raised top 5,000,000 in the cutoff holding the {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} and picked up the blinds and big blind ante, as Michael Duek in the big blind mucked the {2-Diamonds} face-up.

Hand #121: Aaron Duczak made it 6,000,000 to go and John Eames came along out of the big blind and the flop brought {10-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{4-Diamonds}, on which Eames opted to check. Duczak continued for 6,500,000 and Eames then clicked it back with a raise to 14,300,000. The shove by Duczak followed and Eames called.

John Eames: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}
Aaron Duczak: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}

The slow-played aces were ahead and that remained to be the case on the {q-Hearts} turn as well. Another blank followed on the {4-Spades} river and Eames doubled for 42,900,000 in total. Eames jumped from the shortest stack to second on the leaderboard and Duczak was left with fumes.
