Alt Sniffs Out Semi-Bluff

Herbie Teope
Herbie Teope
Niveau 19 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Dinesh Alt was in the blender after facing an all-in 261,000 river bet from Dennis Brand, who started the day with 461,000.

Alt looked hard at the board, which contained 7♥6♦10♠2♥A♥, and then Brand, who hardly moved. Alt took his time to consider his options, putting his elbow on the rail and resting his chin for up to a minute.

Then, he made the call.

Alt: A♦9♠
Brand: 10♣8♠

Alt caught the semi-bluff by pairing his ace on the river and was awarded a large pot, which only elevated the Day 1 chip leader’s stack. He also sent Brand to the rail.

In three way action to the 10♥6♣2♣, Ferenc Doner bet 25,000 and Ankit Ahuja raised to 75,000. Steve Rosen called all-in for 58,000 in the cutoff and Doner folded.

Steve Rosen: K♦10♦
Ankit Ahuja: J♥J♣

The overpair of Ahuja was ahead and that remained to be the case throughout the 3♦ turn and Q♠ river runout. Right after the hand, the table broke as the field was already down to just 100 hopefuls.

Qu’s Flopped Boat Devastates Opponent’s Stack

Niveau 18 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

The board showed 6♥3♠6♣2♠9♠ and there was plenty of action on the river.

Feng Qu had moved all in for his remaining 251,000 chips and his opponent, Robert Burlacu, had Qu covered and made the call.

Qu tabled 6♠3♦ for a flopped full house to take down a massive pot and push his stack to more than 800,000.

With the cards on their backs preflop, Ryan Baker was the at-risk player in a contest versus Igor D'Ursel.

Ryan Baker: A♠10♥
Igor D'Ursel: A♥K♣

The dominated ace never solved the kicker issues on the A♦7♠5♣8♦8♥ board and Baker was sent to the payout desk.

On the river of a K♥Q♥5♦2♥8♥ board, Kyle Mcclellen bet and then reluctantly called a raise to 150,000 by Timothy Miles. He was shown the A♥5♠ for the nut flush and mucked his J♥5♥ face up.

Benso Awarded Pot

Niveau 18 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

A player in early position raised to 22,500, but Sergio Benson three-bet the action from the button.

And then time stood still.

The player in early position then went in the tank for minutes before a player called for the clock. The dealer then called for the floor, who came over and ruled the player would be given a 10-second warning and a 30-second countdown.

As the floor counted down from five seconds, time expired and the hand was ruled dead, rewarding the pot to Benso.

Niveau 18 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

As expected, the opening stage has whittled down the field rapidly as just 126 players remain. Among those to bust as of lately were [Removed:490] and Sonny Franco.
