Gheorghe Butuc raised from under the gun and when it folded around to the short stacked Thomas Taylor, he went all in for his remaining 800,000 in chips. It folded back around to Butuc and he called.

The flop dashed Taylor's hopes as it came 5♣A♥6♦, his only chance was running Broadway cards and they couldn't be a diamond. Stephen Nahm chimed in, "Not even a sweat! Doink!" as he'd already had a couple beers.

The turn was the 2♠ and the river bricked the 7♠, awarding the pot to Butuc.

There were plenty of times the last few days where it felt like a rowdy party, but Taylor was always all business; focused and determined.

Dan Matsuzuki opened to 300,000 before Jonathan England moved all in for his final 560,000. Amir Mirrasouli then announced pot and Matsuzuki got out of the way.

Matsuzuki Takes From Taylor

Matsuzuki led out on the 7♦4♦9♠ flop with Taylor calling to see the 2♣ turn. Matsuzuki fired again for 650,000, with Taylor calling to the 7♥ river.

Matsuzuki fired a third time for 1,300,000 and Taylor took some time before sliding in the call. Matsuzuki revealed Q♠10♠7♠5♠ for trip sevens, taking down a big pot as Taylor mucked his hand.

Dan Matsuzuki raised on the button to 275,000 and was jammed on by the small blind, Thomas Zanot, for 800,000. Matsuzuk quickly made the call and cards were on their backs.

The flop fanned out 5♠6♠4♥ and when the 3♠ fell on the turn, so did Zanot's hopes in making the final table. He remained good natured and was heard multiple times throughout the tournament saying how fun PLO tournaments are here at the WSOP.

Matsuzuki was dealt aces three out of the first four hands he played and eliminated two players with them. To say he's off to a hot start would be an understatement.
