Divyam Satyarthi open-jammed a stack of around 1,700,000 as the first player to act and Rene Lazaro three-bet to 2,800,000 behind him before Dietrich Fast went deep into the tank from the big blind. Eventually, he folded 10x10x face-up.
Divyam Satyarthi: A♣K♥
Rene Lazaro: J♥J♦
"Biggest flip of my life!" Satyarthi said before the flop ran out 6♥3♠4♠ to keep Lazaro's jacks ahead. "Ace or king! Ace or king!"
The 10♣ turn didn't change anything (other than that it would have given Fast a set), but Satyarthi let out a roar as the dealer put down the K♣ on the river to earn him a double to stay alive.
Samuel Roussy-Majeau was in the big blind when Adam Swan raised to 290,000 on the button and Roussy-Majeau put all of his chips in for about 500,000. Swan called.
Samuel Roussy-Majeau: A♦9♥
Adam Swan: Q♥Q♠
The board came down 8♣10♣4♠3♠6♦ and the queens held on adding to Swan's stack.
Jonathan Kramer has been eliminated in 15th place and has won $17,996. Kramer shoved all of his chips in for 490,000 in middle position and Matthew Hunt on the big blind called.
Jonathan Kramer: A♣J♦
Matthew Hunt: 9♥9♦
The board was 6♥Q♦K♣7♠K♦ and Kramer couldn't improve and added to Hunt's growing stack.
Adam Swan opened to 200,000 in the cutoff and Robel Andemichael three-bet jammed a stack of around 2,000,000 from the small blind. Jean Lhuillier then four-bet jammed a bigger stack from the big blind to bring a fold from Swan.
Robel Andemichael: 7♠7♥
Jean Lhuillier: A♦J♣
Andemichael couldn't stay ahead with sevens as the board ran out Q♦10♦5♣8♦9♦ to give Lhuillier a flush and mark Andemichael's elimination in 17th place.
Event #28: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em Freezeout at the 2023 World Series of Poker at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas will be played today to its conclusion on Day 3 as we crown a winner. These extraordinary 17 players are sure to provide an action-packed day.
After an initial field of 2,046 was whittled down to 188 players on the first day of play, Day 2 saw only 17 players reach the final day as they all remain in the running for the prestigious bracelet.
Of those, Matthew Hunt solidified his place as an overwhelming chip leader bagging 9,380,000 for the restart today, and his closest competitors are Benjamin Ector (5,690,000), Jean Lhuillier (5,165,000) and Dean Hutchison (4,000,000).
The elusive bracelet will add to Matthew Hunt's impressive poker career as this would be his first. Unlike Dietrich Fast who is also in the running but is seeking his second bracelet which he won in 2015 at The Oktoberfest €550 No Limit Hold'em Event. Fast also won first place in a World Poker Tour event in the same year.
Each remaining player is guaranteed a payout of $17,996 but all have their eyes on the $406,403 for first place, as well as the all-important gold bracelet of the 2023 WSOP.
Day 3 will take place on the feature tables in the Horseshoe Event Center at Noon PDT as we play down to a winner through 60-minute levels. Alongside breaks of 15 minutes every two levels, today's structure will also include a dinner break of which the time and length is to be determined.
