Mateos Wins a Big Flip, Ausmus on Crumbs

Jeremy Ausmus opened to 650,000 in the cutoff and Adrian Mateos three-bet to 1,900,000 from the big blind. Ausmus responded with a four-bet shove all in and Mateos snapped off his stack of 7,725,000.

The flop fell A♦8♣7♠ and Mateos spiked a pair of aces to take the lead. The J♦ on the turn left Ausmus with just two outs and the K♠ on the river was not one of them.

Arends Check-Raises to Win Pot

Adrian Mateos raised 650,000 with A♦8♦ under the gun and met resistance from Jans Arends, who defended his big blind with 6♥4♦.

Arends was rewarded for his bullish defense when the dealer fanned 4♥10♣6♠ on the flop, giving Arends bottom two pair. Arends checked and Mateos checked behind.

The K♦ on the turn brought some action after Arends checked. Mateos bet 1,100,000 and then faced a 3,200,000 check-raise from Arends. Mateos immediately mucked his hand.

The action folded to Biao Ding in the cutoff who shoved all in for 2,925,000. Chance Kornuth asked for a count and then reshoved all in from the small blind. Jeremy Ausmus folded his big blind and the two hands were tabled.

The flop came 10♦7♠6♦ and Kornuth's ace-high was still in the lead. The 2♦ on the turn changed nothing and the A♥ on the river only paired Kornuth, sending Ding home in sixth place.

Mateos Squeezes in Big Blind, Takes Down Pot

Cary Katz limped in the cutoff with A♣J♣, an action that prompted Jans Arends to call on the button with 7♦6♦. Biao Ding, who was in the small blind, elected to complete the bet with J♠9♠.

Then the action fell on Adrian Mateos in the big blind.

With the pot sitting at 1,500,000, Mateos looked down at K♥Q♦ and moved all in for 6,875,000.

The action quickly folded to Mateos’ aggressive play.

Jans Arends raised to 500,000 from under the gun with K♣10♠ and Chance Kornuth flat-called on the button with A♦Q♠. The flop came Q♥J♦4♥ and Arends check-called a bet of 500,000 from Kornuth.

The turn was the 7♥ and Arends checked again. Kornuth sized up a bet of 1,800,000 this time and Arends quickly threw his straight draw into the muck.

The turn brought the 6♠ and Ausmus led out with a bet of 1,300,000. Arends was forced to let his hand go and Ausmus raked in a pot from the chip leader.

Kornuth Immediately Doubles Up

It didn’t take long for action to heat up on Day 3.

Biao Ding moved all in on the button with 5♥5♣ and action folded to Chance Kornuth, who looked down at A♦Q♦ and moved all in to put himself at risk.

The dealer ran out 6♣Q♥J♣, putting Kornuth in the lead over Ding’s small pocket pair. Ding had two outs remaining, but neither appeared as J♦ arrived on the turn and 10♠ on the river.

Kornuth secured a 9,075,000 pot for his double up.
