The excitement was electrifying at the 2023 World Series of Poker for the highly anticipated Day 2 of the $1,000 Mystery Millions at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas. With a staggering 1,006 survivors coming back for Day 2, the mystery bounties kicked in as soon as the cards were up. There was thunderous applause following the announcement that bounties were officially in play, with an additional $1,000,000 bounty being added.
When a player received a knockout ticket, they were instructed to enter their information into an iPad provided by the staff. The names were then put in a queue on the big screen, and chests were constantly being opened that awarded a minimum of $1,000 per knockout. On occasion, a player would randomly hit a golden chest, which held a much bigger prize. The smallest amount in a gold chest was $25,000, with the biggest being $1,000,000.
Shant Marashlian was the first player of the day to secure the sought-after $1,000,000 bounty matching the winnings of the eventual victor. Patrick Liang shortly followed and secured a combined total of $1,025,000. Klint Tevaearai was the lucky winner of the $500,000 gold chest bounty, and Eric Baldwin pulled the $250,000 bounty.
The chip leader is Guang Chen (64,000,000), but it was Jaime Madrigal (45,200,000) who dominated most of the day. Madrigal will be an exciting player to watch heading into Day 3 not least because Madrigal’s aggressive playstyle led to large swings in his chip stack.
Bill Murray also survived Day 2 and hoped to score big during the final day; Murray pulled out a $50,000 bounty during the day's action.
