Kevin Martin snapped a video from the table he was at, which he shared on Twitter Thursday, of what just might be the craziest hand played thus far at the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP).
The hand involved four premium pocket pairs and took place on Day 1 of Event #37: $2,000 No-Limit Hold'em. PokerNews' live reporting team was also at the table to record the wild action.
The final 68 players are now on their 60-minute dinner break. The action will resume at approximately 5:35 p.m. local time with four more levels being played on the day.
Timothy Rutherford raised to 40,000 from late position with Marc MacDonnell making the call from the big blind.
The flop came 9♥Q♥5♣ with MacDonnell making a quick check. Rutherford led out for 40,000 with MacDonnell finding the call.
With the turn of the A♥, MacDonnell again checked to Rutherford. He bet for 155,000 with MacDonnell making the call.
The river was the 9♠ as both players checked around. MacDonnell showed Ax5x to take down the pot.

Uri Reichenstein opened the action from early position to 40,000 and it folded around to Miguel Silva in the small blind who put in a three-bet to 125,000. Kai Zheng cut out a four-bet to 310,000 from the big blind and only Silva made the call.
The flop came 7♣4♦2♣ and both players checked their options to the 6♥ turn. Silva elected to lead out for 200,000 and Zheng came along.
The K♠ hit the river and Silva slowed down with a check to Zheng who slid out a bet of 270,000. Silva went deep in the tank, but after close to four minutes, reluctantly let his cards go and the pot was sent to Zheng who crossed over the two million chip mark.

Dorian Rios raised to 50,000 and got a call from Christian Harder in the big blind leading to a 9♠J♥5♥ flop. Both players checked through to see the 4♦ hit the turn.
Harder led out into Rios with a bet of 30,000 and received a quick call before both players watched as the 7♦ fell on the river.
Harder thought for a moment then slid out a bet of 190,000. Rios entered a short tank while considering his action but eventually arrived at a fold, conceding the pot to Harder without showdown.
