Phil Ivey opened to 40,000 from middle position before Phil Hellmuth moved his last 145,000 into the middle on the button. The blinds got out of the way to send the action back to Ivey who quickly called.
Phil Hellmuth: K♦K♥Q♠9♥
Phil Ivey: A♦J♦6♦3x
Hellmuth held the upper hand with his kings and managed to stay ahead on the 8♥K♣J♥10♣4♣ runout to secure a full double.
Matthew Ashton: XxXx / 8♦8♥5♥7♠ / Xx
Brian Rast: XxXx / Q♣A♥K♠K♥ / Xx
Picking up the action on fourth street, Matthew Ashton bet with an open pair of eights and was called by Brian Rast. Fifth street gave Rast more paint and he called another bet by Ashton before gaining the lead on sixth street with a pair of kings. Rast checked and then called a bet by Ashton.
On seventh street, Rast checked once more and Ashton quickly bet, sending his opponent into the tank. Ultimately, Rast tossed the superior open board into the muck and Rast won the pot without showdown.
Joining the action on the Q♦4♣2♦ flop, Chris Klodnicki bet 55,000 from under the gun. Ray Dehkharghani called in the hijack and that led them to the 7♦ on the turn. Klodnicki now checked for Dehkharghani to bet 125,000 and Klodnicki check-called, investing nearly half of his remaining short stack.
Klodnicki then checked the 5♣ on the river and Dehkharghani bet 150,000. The fold of Klodnicki saw his stack reduced to a nub, even falling behind Phil Hellmuth in the pecking order.
Daniel Alaei opened to 40,000 on the button before Chris Klodnicki moved his short stack into the middle from the small blind. Alaei called to put his opponent at risk.
Chris Klodnicki: A♥J♦9♥9♦
Daniel Alaei: A♦7♦5♥4♠
Klodnicki was in a good spot to double and did just that after the board ran out 5♣9♠10♠K♣A♣ to give the short stacked player some life.
Josh Arieh raised to 40,000 under the gun and got called by Kristopher Tong in the big blind. Tong then patted his hand and Arieh drew two.
Tong checked to Arieh who thought for a bit then placed a bet of 180,000. Tong wasted no time in flicking in a calling chip. Arieh said "sixes," and Tong fanned his 10x8x6x4x2x for the winner as Arieh tossed his bluff into the muck.
Picking up the action on the turn, Nacho Barbero in the big blind was involved in a hand with Matthew Ashton in the cutoff. With the board reading 9♠Q♦Q♣4♦, Barbero checked and then raised after Ashton bet. Ashton made the call to send the action to the river.
Barbero fired again following the J♣ river and Ashton committed calling chips. "Queen" announced Barbero as he tabled to Q♥5♣3♥2♣ to scoop the pot and keep himself chipping up.
Chris Klodnicki raised to 40,000 on the button and Ray Dehkharghani called out of the big blind. On a flop of 10♥9♣3♦, Dehkharghani bet 105,000 and Klodnicki had a smirk on the face before folding.
One hand later, Daniel Alaei limped in and Dehkharghani did so from the small blind while Phil Hellmuth as the other table short stack checked out of the big blind. The K♥7♦2♥ flop was checked to Alaei and he bet 30,000. Dehkharghani called and Hellmuth did so as well.
The 5♥ on the turn was checked through and that led the trio to the 4♥ on the river. Dehkharghani now bet 85,000 and Hellmuth was instantly annoyed, leaning side ways on his chair in a rather annoyed mood.
He then reluctantly folded and so did Alaei, which caused some table chat by Hellmuth.
"F*** ... you call a pot-sized raise before the flop?" Hellmuth asked but received no reply, which then triggered more murmured complaints. "Son of a b**** ... I had a monster," Hellmuth concluded.
Kiristopher Tong completed and Josh Arieh raised, with Tong making the call.
Tong check-called a bet on fourth street and lead out when he paired his ace on fifth, which Arieh called.
Arieh would return the favor with a lead on sixth when he took back the betting lead with trip fives and Tong made the call.
Tong would then call a bet from Arieh on the river and the two players would chop it up, with Arieh taking the high with quad fives and Tong winning the low with an eighty-seven.
