Kwan Find a Double Up on Ypma

Derek Kwan opened in middle position to 300 and the cutoff called. John Ypma decided to 3-bet to 1,500 in the small blind and Kwan responded by a 4-bet worth 5,600, with around 5,000 left behind. It folded back to Ypma who 5-bet to put Kwan at risk and the latter called for the following showdown:

John Ypma: A♠K♠

Kwan won the flip thanks to the 9♦3♥4♥5♠6♥ runout and got the double up he needed.

A player from under the gun opened to 800 and received calls from players in the hijack, the cutoff, Hamid Feiz in the small blind, and a player in the big blind.

Action checked back to the under-the-gun player on the A♦Q♥5♦ flop and he placed a continuation bet of 800. The players in the hijack and cutoff folded, Feiz called and the player in the big blind folded.

Action was heads up on the K♦ turn and was checked around, leading to the 9♠ river. Feiz bet 3,000 and was quickly called.

Feiz tabled Q♦Q♣ for a flopped set to take the pot down.

Action was picked up on the flop on the very next hand at the same table. The board read K♦J♣8♥ and action was three ways. A player in early position checked, as did a player in the small blind. Feiz bet 1,100 from the button, folding out the small blind but receiving a call from the early position player.

Action was checked around on the 6♦ turn and 2♥ river. The early position player had 10♣9♣ for a missed straight draw and Feiz showed A♦Q♠ to take the pot down with ace-high.

Gianluca Speranza raised to 600 in the cutoff and Dinesh Alt flat-called on the button. They went heads-up to a flop of 10♥6♦4♣ and both players checked to the 6♠ on the turn.

Speranze tossed in a bet of 500 on the turn and Alt stuck around to see the 9♥ on the river. Speranza fired out another bet of 1,700 and Alt thought for a moment before calling. Speranza showed 3♠3♣ but was no good against the 7♠7♦ of Alt.

Maguire Forces a Fold

An early position player limped in and a player from the hijack raised to 1,000. Christopher Maguire three-bet to 3,000, the early position limper got out of the way and the player in the hijack made the call.

The flop came 3♦4♦5♣. The hijack checked, Maguire bet 2,700 and was called by his opponent.

Both players checked the 4♠ turn leading to the 2♠ on the river. The player in the hijack checked, and after about one minute of deliberation Maguire fired a 6,000 bet. His opponent seemed to consider a call momentarily but ultimately threw his cards into the muck, awarding Maguire a decent pot.
