No 11th Bracelet As Johnny Chan Falls in 14th in WSOP $1,500 Big O

As ten-time bracelet winner Phil Ivey competes in Day 2 of the $50,000 Poker Players Championship at the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP), another Poker Hall of Famer was looking for his eleventh piece of WSOP gold with a deep run in Event #41: $1,500 Big O.

Johnny Chan entered the third and final day of the Omaha event toward the bottom of the counts with 18 players remaining as the 1987 and 1988 Main Event champion hoped to finally break the three-way tie between himself, Ivey and the late Doyle Brunson in second place on the all-time bracelet list.

Sadly for poker fans sweating the $1,500 buy-in event, "The Master" was eliminated 14th place for $13,982 after a confrontation with Scott Abrams.

Aggression Pays off for Ahuja

The flop came K♠2♣J♣ as both players were quick to check.

With the 8♣ on the turn, Ankit Ahuja led out for 7,500 as he was called by his opponent.

The river came the Q♦ as Ahuja jammed all in for 30,000. At risk of being all in, his opponent folded for Ahuja to sweep the pot.

Misirian Doubles Through Foxen

John Misirian bet 2,200 from middle position and received a call from a player on the button before Kristen Foxen three-bet to 9,000 from the small blind. Misirian made the call and the player in the small blind got out of the way.

The flop came 3♦6♦5♣. Foxen bet 10,000 and Misirian raised all in for approximately 25,000. Foxen quickly called with a covering stack to put Misirian at risk.

Affleck Spends Time in the Tank

The 5♠ paired the board on the turn and both players checked to the 7♦ on the river. The big blind checked once more and Affleck tossed in a bet of 7,500. The big blind jammed all in for 36,700 and Affleck asked for a count before diving into the tank. After a couple of minutes passed, Affleck finally dispatched his cards and his opponent collected the pot.
