Alexander Kell Eliminated in 9th Place ($12,479)

Niveau 25 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 75,000 ante
Alexander Kell
Alexander Kell

Alexander Kell moved all in from the cutoff and was looked up by Jon Turner in the big blind.

Turner took one while Kell chose to stand pat after which Kell tabled Jx8x7x6x3x. Turner showed down 8x7x5x2x before peeling his last card. "It's a fifty-fifty" he told the table as lifted the card's edge. That fifty-fifty ended in Turner's favour as he turned over the 4 to send Kell out in 9th place and bring the tournament down to the unofficial final table.

Nick Guagenti Eliminated in 10th Place ($9,613)

Nick Guagenti

Picking up the action on the draw, Brad Ruben from under the gun had Nick Guagenti in the cutoff all in and at risk. Ruben stood pat, sending Guagenti into the tank as he pondered what to do. Ultimately he chose to pat behind, showing down 10x8x6x3x2x. Unfortunately for him he had come to the wrong conclusion as Ruben held 9x8x7x6x4x to send Guagenti to the rail in 10th place.

Robert Massman Eliminated in 11th Place ($9,613)

Niveau 25 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 75,000 ante
Robert Massman
Robert Massman

Seeing that big blind Robert Massman was getting desperately low in chips, Brad Ruben raised enough from the small blind to put him all in. Massman called and put his tournament life on the line.

Massman stood pat and Ruben drew two. Massman placed his lifeline face up, Jx10x8x6x4x, with Ruben drawing to 8x5x2x. Ruben caught two of the exact cards he needed, a ten and a nine, and Massman's improbable and inspiring run came to an end.

Nicknamed "the Razzman", the longtime California lowball specialist applied those wiles to outlasting a field stocked full of WSOP Main Event Champions, Hall of Famers, and multiple bracelet winners to make a triumphant return to the World Series of Poker. We hope to see him in the field on Friday when Event #69: $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw Championship gets underway Friday.

Turner Gets Much Value

Niveau 25 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 75,000 ante

Jon Turner opened to 115,000 from middle position, getting calls from John Holley in the cutoff as well as Nick Guagenti out of the big blind.

All three players took one card with Guagenti then checking to Turner who bet 200,000. Holley quickly called, drawing a pained expression from Guagenti as he pondered whether to overcall. Eventually he did decide his hand was strong enough to warrant the extra bet and made the call. Turner tabled 7x6x5x4x2x, eliciting a cry of "holy sh*t" from Holley, who told the table he had nine-six. Guagenti expressed he had had a similar hand as he sent his holding into the muck to ship a large pot over to Turner.

Joao Dorneles Neto Eliminated in 12th Place ($7,574)

Niveau 24 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 60,000 ante
Joao Dorneles Neto
Joao Dorneles Neto

Joao Dorneles Neto open-jammed from the cutoff and Erik Seidel smoothly called from the big blind.

Seidel patted, and that is when the drama began. Dorneles Neto had a very difficult choice in front of him, with survival on the line, whether or not to break his hand. He took his time with the decision, lifting his cards again and again, staring into his hand. After agonizing minutes he came to the decision to break.

Seidel turned over 10x9x4x3x2x, and Dorneles Neto a strong draw, 7x6x3x2x. He slowly peeled the card from the table, hoping to see a five, a four, an eight, nine, or ten. But it was not to be, as he revealed it was a queen.

Seidel, the quiet assassin had claimed another victim, and unfortunately for Dorneles Neto, it was his turn in the Hall of Famer's crosshairs.

Mercier Takes More From Holley

Niveau 24 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 60,000 ante

Jason Mercier opened to 80,000 on the button and John Holley defended in the big blind.

Both players took one card with Holley then checking to Mercier. He counted out a bet of 150,000, prompting Holley to sit and think for some time. After a while, Holley decided to throw his hand away to send more of his chips over to Mercier.
