Balleur Over Two Million

Niveau 24 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Left before the dinner break with less than one million chips, Gaetan Balleur now has twice that amount. According to him, he opened Ax9x offsuit, and Milan Timko called in the big blind.

"On the flop came 7x8x10x with two spades, along with a brick on the turn," the Frenchman added. Both times, the two players checked.

"Then on the river, Jx, Timko bet 400,000. I raised all in for 1,100,000 chips with a straight, and Timko snap-called with AK," concluded Balleur, still a bit surprised by the way he doubled his stack.

Is Stolzenfeld the Chosen One?

Niveau 24 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Steven Stolzenfeld
Steven Stolzenfeld

Pokernews caught up with current chip leader Steven Stolzenfeld and his tablemates as they recounted what was described as "The hand of the Tournament".

Things got started when the hijack opened to 80,000. It then folded to the button who put in the three-bet to 250,000. Stolzenfeld was next to act in the small blind and put in a cold four-bet to 590,000. The hijack folded and action was back on the button who five-bet to 950,000. Stolzenfeld flat called.

The 10x10x8x flop was checked over to the button who put out a continuation bet of 325,000. Stolzenfeld smooth called again.

The turn brought a Kx and this time the players both slowed down and checked.

The 2x landed on the river and without hesitation Stolzenfeld open jammed for 1,600,000 effective. The button tanked but eventually flicked in the call and was shown the bad news.

Stolzenfeld called the five bet and immediately flopped quad tens. The button flashed aces in disgust as he exited the tournament after what can only be described as an absolutely horrendous bad beat.

Niveau 24 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Rick Whitesell opened to 80,000 from under the gun and it folded around to the big blind who moved all in for just over 600,000. Whitesell quickly called with a bigger stack and the cards were shown.

Big Blind: 99
Rick Whitesell: KK

Whitesell was in great shape against the nines for his opponent, and when the board ran out J65K4, it was the kings that held up for Whitesell to score the pot and send his opponent to the exit.

Cabuhat Kicks A Player Out

Niveau 24 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

In front of Dominic Cabuhat, his cards were flipped, as he called one of his opponent's stack. "He opened from under the gun to 85,000. I jammed for 20 blinds in middle position and he called with his 600,000 chips," said Cabuhat.

Under-the-gun player: 99
Dominic Cabuhat: AK

Cabuhat hit a king directly on the flop 6KJ, then another one on the turn K. The river card 2 didn't help the short stack, who was eliminated.

King on the River

Niveau 24 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Action folded to a player in middle position who open jammed for 215,000. It then folded to Igor Furtado de Oliveira in late position who raised to 500,000 to isolate. The rest of the players folded and the cards hit their backs.

Middle position: AJ
Igor Furtado de Oliveira: QJ

The 4107 flop brought no help for Oliveira. The A turn had him drawing to just four kings in the deck for Broadway. Right on time the K landed on the river sending Oliveira's opponent to the rail and helping him drag a nice pot late in the day.

Manana Gets Caught and Then Bailed Out

Niveau 24 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

The action was picked up in a pot of roughly 500,000 on a board showing K867. Joao Manana moved all in from the big blind, covering the almost 500,000 left for his opponent in middle position, who went deep in the tank.

"If I fold you show?" asked the opponent while contemplating their options.

Manana didn't flinch, and eventually the middle position player made the call for their tournament life.

Middle Position: QQ
Joao Manana: 98

Manana had a combo draw and a pair but was behind the over-pair for his opponent. The river fell the Q and Manana made a flush to score the pot and send his opponent to the exit.
