Min's Kicker Gives Him the Pot

The middle position player raised and saw calls come from the cutoff and then Jason Min in the small blind. The big blind came along as well before a flop of K♥6♥5♦ was spread out by the dealer.

Min led with a bet, prompting two folds and then a call from the cutoff before a turn of 9♥ hit the table. Min bet again and once again received a call from the cutoff leading to the 2♠ river.

Min decided to check-call a bet from the cutoff player and turned over the K♦J♦ to beat the K♣10♥ of his opponent and take down the pot.

Rolfe Takes Down McKeehen

Three-time WSOP bracelet winner Joe McKeehen was fighting an uphill battle after the break.

He had the smallest chip stack at his table when the big blind came to him midway through Level 21, and he faced a raise from Byron Rolfe, who was on the button. After the small blind folded, McKeehen called the raise, leading to a flop of 2♠4♦5♥.

McKeehen immediately made an all-in bet, and Rolfe called.

Rolfe: K♦5♦

Rolfe was ahead, and McKeehen needed help to the turn, which produced Q♦. The dealer then placed a third diamond on the board, giving Rolfe the flush and ending McKeehen’s tournament.

Klein Cuts His Losses, Folds Early

In a pot that saw Jesse Sylvia raise in middle position and Bill Klein call from the big blind, the flop came J♦8♣K♥.

Klein, with the first action, opted to fold rather than check or bet. Sylvia asked, "How do I win the pot now?" before jokingly tossing out a bet.

As the table laughed, the dealer told Klein that he can't fold when there is no betting action to him to which Klein, with a wry smile on his face, jokingly said, "Penalize me. I'll lose less chips while I'm gone."

The whole table got a good laugh out of it as Sylvia dragged the pot.

Anderson’s Trip Aces Grabs Pot

Stephanie Anderson and Kevin Rand found themselves tangled in a hand.

Rand raised in late position, while Anderson, who was in the small blind, called. The big blind folded to bring the flop, where the dealer placed 6♣A♣10♣ on the board.

Anderson checked, leading Rand to bet. Anderson quickly check-called the bet, and the action went to the turn, which produced 2♥. Anderson checked her option, and Rand once again bet only to see Anderson check-call for a second time.

The river brought A♥, slowing down the action as both players checked.

“I have an Ace,” said Anderson, who tabled A♠3♠ to give her trip Aces.

Rand promptly mucked his hand, prompoting the dealer to push the pot to Anderson.

Limit Masters Mamiya and Zhu Tangle

Mamiya, who finished fourth in this event in 2019, and is coming off two recent H.O.R.S.E. championships in Japan, check-raised. Zhu, who finished third in this event last year, put in the call.

Mamiya checked the 8♣ and Zhu laid 20,000 in the middle, which Mamiya called.

On a 3♦ river Mamiya marshaled her chips for a bet, but was met by a raise by Zhu. She called. Zhu turned over two fives in the hole for a set and Mamiya mucked.

Welsh Holds to Send Another Player Home

Action folded to Kerry Welsh on the button who put in a raise before facing a three-bet from the player in the small blind. Welsh decided he wanted to get the betting out of the way before the flop and raised his opponent back who called off the remainder of his chips.

The board ran out 6♦2♠5♣6♠Q♣, offering no help to the at-risk player who hit the rail as Welsh scooped the pot and moved up in the chip counts.

Duong Scores Knockout Blow Shortly After Break

Paul Sokoloff moved all in as a short stack in middle position to start action in Level 20, but was quickly called by Kimphong Duong, who was on the button.

The small and big blinds folded, allowing both players to table their hands.

Sokoloff tabled Q♦10♣, but saw he was behind when Duong turned over 9♠9♦.

The dealer ran out 5♠K♥6♣7♣5♦, giving Duong the win with two pair and sending Sokoloff out in 59th place.

Sokoloff started a mini-run of players to exit, as the tournament restarted with 60 players in the field but the number dropped to 56 less than 15 minutes after the break ended.
