Day 2 of Event #79: $2,500 No-Limit Hold’em has ended with 24 players remaining out of the 310 who began the day. Play resumes on Day 3 at 11:00 a.m. local time on Wednesday, July 12th, in Horseshoe Silver, where they will play down to a champion in this summer-saving event.

The total prize pool generated was $4,601,300. The top seven will lock up a six-figure payday, with the winner receiving the prestigious WSOP gold bracelet and a first-place prize of $682,436.

Leading the pack is Day 1 Chipleader Seth Davies, who bagged a whopping 9,425,000. Davies was hovering around the other big stacks for most of the day until he caught fire late in the day and soared past them to put himself way into the chip lead.

Bagging in second is Justin Kindred with 6,000,000 and in third is Ramon Fernandez (5,020,000). Right behind them is James Anderson (4,360,000) in fourth, and rounding out the top five is Rui Ferreira with 4,300,000.

Three WSOP gold bracelet winners are still in the mix in the form of Galen Hall (705,000), Anderson, and Kartik Ved (2,220,000), so Day 3 will be sure to be filled with plenty of action.

Play started today at the start of Level 18, and the since the money was hit on the last hand of Day 1, the bustouts were fast and furious as all of the short stacks shoved their chips into the middle. Almost 100 players were lost in the first level of play and eventually slowed down as the day wore on, ending with the final 24.

Some of the unfortunate players that failed to make it to Day 3 include David Peters, Brian Yoon, Koray Aldemir, Calvin Anderson, Barbara Enright, and Lara Eisenberg.

The final players will resume at 11:00 a.m. on July 12 on Level 28 with blinds at 50,000/100,000/100,000, and play will continue until a champion is crowned.

Stay tuned to PokerNews for the exciting finale of this tournament as well as all other 2023 WSOP events!
