In a limped pot, the flop showed J♣K♠9♥ when Kristen Nyman check-called Anthony Hu for a bet worth 2,000. The same action happened on the 2♦ turn, this time for 5,000.
When the Q♥ landed on the river, Nyman led out for 15,000. After a minute, Hu called but mucked his hand when Nyman revealed J♦10♣ for the straight.
With just two players remaining at the table, Sebastian Peter Gaehl was on the button and limped. Johnnie "Vibes" Moreno was in the big blind and checked.
The 7♠10♦5♥ flop landed and Moreno opted to lead 3,000. Gaehl called.
The Q♣ turn landed and Moreno continued for 10,000. Gaehl called again.
The 7♥ landed on the river and Moreno slowed down and checked. Gaehl checked behind the cards hit their backs. Moreno showed Jx9x for a missed straight draw and Gaehl tabled 10♠3♠ for a pair to scoop.
With a large chip lead, Katie Kopp shoved and her opponent called for his remaining 33,000 chips.
Kopp tabled K♣7♦ and had the worse hand as her opponent held A♠4♣, but she managed to find a board of 7♥J♣7♣J♥9♦ to win the pot with trips and advance to Day 2.
The board 2♥J♠J♣K♦Q♣ was already dealt when Malachy Hagan checked to Hang Nguyen who bet 10,000. Hagan replied with a raise to 20,000 and Nguyen went into the tank.
After some time, Nguyen called, showing K♠Q♥ for two pair. Hagan tabled J♦3♠ for the winning hand with trips.
"I knew you had the jack," said Nguyen, who dell down to a stack worth 11,000. "I shouldn't have called."
The two start by debating the pros and cons of the 2023 WSOP Main Event payouts before welcoming this week’s guest – poker vlogger Ryan Depaulo.
Among the topics they discuss with the Whole Foods parking lot bracelet winner are his biggest score to date (third place in the Colossus), what his father told him (“Don’t punt”), and Joey the Mush. Plus, they ask if he was banned from Borgata for vlogging, his main poker influence, and whether or not he’s a withered pro.
Norman Chad and Jesse then do a new "Calling the Clock" segment in which they offer quick two-minute dialogues for topics on “The Board.”
