For many part-time players, the World Series of Poker (WSOP) is a chance to get away from work and spend some time in Las Vegas playing poker and chasing a bracelet.

One of those part-time bracelet hopefuls is venture capitalist and longtime poker player Chamath Palihapitiya, an early Facebook executive and the founder and CEO of the investment firm Social Capital. After more than a decade off of the WSOP felt, the billionaire returned to the World Series to take his shot at winning a bracelet in Event #29: $100,000 High Roller.

PokerNews caught up with Palihapitiya earlier in the series as he battled in a Day 1 field that included Chance Kornuth, Alex Foxen, Chris Brewer plenty more of the world's top high-roller players.

Ren Lin
Ren Lin

Under-the-gun blind raised to 1,000 and Ren Lin announced "Double-straddle!" and blind raised to 2,000 in early position. The cutoff called and Garett Mayberry on the button raised to 7,000.

Rob Perelman in the small blind raised to 26,300, leaving 100 behind. Lin took the first look at his cards and his eyes lit up and moved all in for 37,300 and added a $100 bill to the pot as a bounty. Mayberry made the call and Perelman threw in his last 100 chip.

Rob Perelman: AK
Ren Lin: 109
Garett Mayberry: KQ

Perelman was ahead when the cards were turned over with ace-high, but the queen on the Q73 flop gave Mayberry the lead. The 2 on the turn left Lin drawing dead but gave Perelman a flush draw.

The J on the river gave Perelman the flush to secure a triple up, while Lin laughed his way to the exit and Mayberry took in the side pot as well as a $100 bill.
