Everyone checked on the 2♦ turn; however, the player in middle position bet 5,000 on the K♠ river after Hughes checked to him. The hijack then raised to 14,000 and Hughes called cold. The initial bettor folded and Hughes' opponent opted to muck his hand rather than show — conceding the pot to Hughes without a showdown.
